Up to you - I would not eat soy if you paid me as it tends to skew the immune system, and I don't need that. (Skews it to TH-2 excess and TH-1 deficiency). This skewing predisposes many chronic diseases, so I do not use any soy products. > Legumes are hard to digest, because I'm > allergic to most of them, Maybe your body is trying to tell you what it took science to tell me? :-))) In my view, there are so many other ways to get good nutrition besides legumes, grains and dairy, that I personally opt for the alternatives. As far as beneficial gut bacteria go, they will manage just fine if you only provide them what they need to eat. In my case I use rice bran. Its one of the FEW fibers that is *fermentable* by beneficial gut bacteria. [it's also a superfood in its own right.] This fermentabhle fiber food for gut bacteria is far more important than any cultured foods to provide the actual bacteria. In other words there is no point feeding the culture without a *sustainable* gut food for the nutrition of the bacteria after you swallow them. Research shows if you wish to leave out either the bacteria or the food they need - it is WAY better to leave out the bacteria. Their food is essential :-) So my suggestion is to be sure to look for fermentable fiber like rice bran in your diet - and to consider any fermented product as " cherry on top " and not the basic issue. You will only get the nutritional benefits of butyrate, propionate and acetate in the gut from beneficial bacteria if they are fed correctly:-) Namaste, IRene - Irene de Villiers, B.Sc AASCA MCSSA D.I.Hom/D.Vet.Hom. Fred Meyer carries (or can get) ener-G brand. HF stores also have it but usually up the price. Namaste, IRene -- Irene de Villiers, B.Sc AASCA MCSSA D.I.Hom/D.Vet.Hom. P.O. Guest guest
Forgive me if I am behind the times, but I thought that all yogurt and dairy were avoids for Os? Am I wrong? Thanks ~ Marci Re: Healthy Homemade Yogurt Hi, Thanks for responding to my post. In summary, our ancestors knew how to preserve foods, and their health, through the process of fermentation. I hate to think this time tested approach to basic survival has been nicely berried and forgotten. Oh well anyone for a whopper gut bomb?
