Actually, my understanding is that it is just the ordinary process of active lesions becoming inactive when the exacerbation is over. There is usually some shrinkage in the lesion on a MRI within a few months of the exacerbation ending. The true indicator that things are actually improving, would be that a lesion that was a NON-active lesion on both of 2 consecutive MRI's, shows noticeably smaller on the later MRI. That's what I'm wondering if anyone has ever experienced....especially some of you who are experiencing slow but steady improvements over a year or two. I would think that slow improvement might be the myelin healing and wouldn't that show on an MRI?
