Moldy pemmican?

Hello,

I bought a container of pemmican from US Wellness

http://www.grasslandbeef.com/

This was the kind without cherry and without honey, just beef and fat.

I kept it in the refrigerator, even though I had been told that this stuff

doesn't need to be refrigerated.

To my surprise, I opened the container just now, and it's covered with a furry

looking mold.

What do you make of this? I thought this stuff lasted for ever. I bought it

about a month ago. How long is it supposed to keep? Is it bad to keep it in the

refrigerator?

I am writing to US wellness.

I cut the moldy part off. I ate a little bit of the rest and didn't feel sick.

But I worry about it.

Maybe closed and in the refrig - trapped moisture is what mold grows in.
