Guest guest
Dear all, Thought this might be of great interest. It contains some very interesting information about Vitamin D and sun exposure. The position paper relates specifically to Australia, but will be of interest to people in other countries too. Out of interest, I had very low Vit D levels (26nmol/L, when lowest end of reference range was about 50) & that level was recorded after spending almost an entire Australian summer working outside doing survey work. I usually worked outside from 6am to almost sunset. I wore sunscreen most of the time to protect against skin cancer. I've been able to increase my Vit D levels through an initial high dose of Vit D and then daily supplementation of 1000IU Vit D3 (via a capsule). Copy and paste the following link into your browser (copy from http: to .htm ) and then click on the words " Risks and Benefits of Sun Exposure' to view the position statement. http://www.cancer.org.au/policy/positionstatements/sunsmart/risksandb enefitsofsunexposure.htm Interesting reading so have a look.
