Allergy to Iodine

Is there a form of iodine that one can take if he is allergic?

Recently my doctor put a drop of Lugol's on my forearm, and my throat swelled shut instantly.

BTW, I think I saw in the Swanson's Vitamins catalogue that they are now selling Lugol's. Josie

For some people, iodine can " activate " antibodies that

are already stored in the skin. If that is the case,

then any form of iodine might cause that reaction ...

you have to find what it is that causes the stored

antibodies (for me it was gluten/casein sensitivity).

Even then it can take awhile to get rid of the antibodies.

Could be worth experimenting though, with some

benadryl handy (caladryl will help with topical

itching response), or maybe in your case even

an epipen (and do it at your dr's office!).

Also another thing ... if you aren't getting enough Vit C,

histamines are more of a problem. So if you find

yourself having allergic reactions, you might try taking

Vit C daily (or with meals) and see if it helps.
