Guest guest
I was only diagnosed with MS a year ago, but one of the things I've found is that often people withdraw because they don't know what to say to us; it's not necessarily that they don't care. Like you, I'm mobile though I do use a cane most of the time. I also work full-time. I find that being direct with people and showing them I can laugh at myself tends to put them more at ease. I'm not lecturing and I'm not saying it isn't lonely, even with people around who love me. ________________________________________________________________ Juno Platinum $9.95. Juno SpeedBand $14.95. Guest guest
For some of us the loneliness comes from knowing that our families simply cannot understand what this disease means to us. They may love us, provide what support they can, but they don't know what it's like to wonder if they will wake up in the morning unable to feel yet another body part, or even wonder if they will be able to walk. We still have common understanding about other things, but this great big THING is beyond their experience. Within this forum we do have that sharing, but with our families it is beyond their reach.
