We are warned to not consume the iodine tincture we buy at the drug

store. I just looked on my bottle and it says " ethyl alcohol " in

addition to the iodine.

Is one drop of ethyl alcohol supposed to be dangerous? Here is what

it says on emedicine:

"

Ethyl alcohol (ethanol; CH3-CH2-OH) is a low molecular weight

hydrocarbon, which is derived from the fermentation of sugars and

cereals. It is widely available both as a beverage and as an

ingredient in food extracts, cough and cold medications, and mouthwashes. "

So where is the big danger coming from? This is a serious question.
