Dear Iodine protocolers,

I have just started the iodine protocol as described in the "Quick Recovery Link." I am taking all the supplements, including the 16 oz. of Kefir a day, but have not seen any sleep so far. I started out with a half tablet of 12.5 mg of Iodoral, and then this week I've gone to the whole tablet. I am so wide awake at night and so tired during the day that it seems like the opposite is happening for me than it does for others. So many people have told me that the first thing that happened to them was deeper sleep that I looked forward to this with great relish. Perhaps the "Quick Recovery Link" is different from the protocol that most of you are on. For one thing, it only recommends a one a day Twin Lab vitamin that contains 200 mcg. of selenium a day. One of my friends said that it was when she went on 200 mg. a day that sleep began to become deep. I am cautious, however, about the selenium because at high doses it can be carcinogenic.

I did not have the iodine loading test. Instead, I followed the recommendations of my lymphatic massage therapist and made a patch of iodine solution ( a tincture of 2% iodine) of 2 inches on my inner arm. She said that if it faded in 24 hours, I was not iodione deficient, but mine faded in 5 hours. Is this the "Patch test" that you are all talking about? I need a little guidance here. Best,
