Guest guest
Yes Mandy, to a certain extent diet can slow the thyroid down. You hear people say, if you do not eat enough it will slow your metabolism. Extreme dieting (starvation for some) can cause the T3 to slow down (or is it reverse T3 to rise), to enable the body to conserve energy. I am not sure whether it gets back to normal if you start eating properly. However conditions like celiac and autoimmune conditions can cause bad absorption and although the person is eating the right foods the body is not absorbing the nutrients properly. I am not sure whether these things actually cause the thyroid to stop working permanently, or whether you need to have a compromised thyroid in the first place and this make it worse. I am sure there are others here who will know more about it. Lilian
Guest guest
Hi Mandy, I thought I had celiac as used to get such bad wind, bloating, but turns out it is probably Candida. I had the celiac test at the docs and came back negative. Have you had the blood test for celiac. I have been on the Candida diet for about fourth week and it can be quite bland to begin with ; but then I learnt to add stuff like fresh herbs for flavour. I dont understand what you mean by celiac whilst eating the food can cause hypothyroid?? Take care love Ali Hi Ive again tried to explain to my family abouyt my low T4 and why > I need the other tests etc..my auntie said its probably my diet which > has messed up my periods and my hormones???
