Guest guest
Yes I remember. However, I personally think that the side effects are worse than the good. Guest guest
If I remember correctly they were using larger dosages of Zocor etc than are used for cholesterol control. Even at the dose used for cholesterol there are concerns regarding liver health/damage, so the increased dose they were using for MS is of real concern to me. Plus, even at the lower dose the statins make me really foggy headed and stupid. Guest guest
Yes, Red Rice Yeast is a great supplement. I use a lot of it in my practice (for lowering cholesterol) and I take it in my MS vitamin routine as well. Red Rice Yeast is a natural statin, sort of what the chemically made cholesterol lowering drugs are modeled after. Because it is a natural substance, the liver is not as stressed as with the chemically made drug...and also because it is natural, a patent can not be taken out therefore a lot of $$$ can not be made by the drug companies thus, it is close to the top of the list of supplements that the drug companies want to disclaim and have taken off the market. If you see bad press about Red Rice Yeast...check out the source of the study...probably a drug company. It is a good supplement. le > DO A SEARCH AND READ ABOUT 'RED YEAST RICE' > > > DeLores > decrosby@a... > > -----Original Message----- > From: dimas_jen [mailto:dimas_jen@y...] > Sent: Wednesday, November 24, 2004 8:54 AM > low dose naltrexone > Subject: [low dose naltrexone] Other drugs for MS > > > > Does anyone else remember about a year or so ago there was a study > done using the cholesterol reducing drugd like Lipator to stop > lesions?? > Has there been any further testing or studies seems just like LDN > that this would be more cost effective for us as patients and way > less invassive or poisoness!!!! Guest guest
Hi, Check out the Life Extension Foundation. They have many products available for lipid imbalances. Make sure you know your ratio of HDL to LDL so you can accurately determine if there REALLY is an elevation. To assess risk for heart disease, have your doctor order Homocysteine and C Reactive Protein tests. These are much more significant than a cholesterol level number. All the best.................Robin Falkov www.healthfreedomrights.com le,I would like to try red rice yeast but listed below iswhat Dr. Weil had to say about it:"Although Pharmanex no longer can sell Cholestin made red rice yeast extract in the United States, it canmarket the supplement elsewhere in the world, including Canada. If the red rice yeast supplementyou’re purchasing from your Canadian source, isCholestin and consists of red rice yeast, you shouldbe getting a product that can safely help lowercholesterol. Be sure to check the label to verify thatthe product contains red rice yeast extract."Where abroad do you order yours? Thanks.Rainey
Guest guest
I actually did heard about using the cholestoral drug for MS from my husband's neurologist. She didn't explain much but told me that the she & her students are doing a reseach on it. She prescribed Lipitor for him b/c the blood test shows his LDL & chorestoral skyrocketed. But my husband change to a different statins drug. Still didn't know if it would help.
