Guest guest
Hello all. I visited Dr.P last Saturday [6th Sept]for the first time, he was marvellous, and extremely charming. He tells me my adrenals are weak and I need to work up to 6 or 8 Nutri adrenals daily. Also that I am unable to convert t4 into t3, so I started on t3 alone the next day. I was previously taking 3.5 grains of Armour, 0.25mcg of Thyroxine and 1.5 Nutri adrenals. I don't feel any different yet but these are early days. Dr.P told me my body was extremely toxic from 9 years of taking t4. Discovering how much t3 I will need daily, and the best time of day to take it, will be a steep learning curve for me based on trial and error, eg temps, pulse and how I feel. [No energy or feelings of 'well being' have started yet!] If anyone out there has needed to take the same, or similar action, or has experience/knowledge of being treated with t3 alone, all advice would be most welcome. Many thanks & lots of luv,
Guest guest
Hi There are many of us who needed to stop T4 because it was not converting to the active hormone T3 - I get mine through Armour, some need to add a bit more T3 or even a little T4 to Armour to get the right balance of hormones that suit them, and others, like you, need to take T3 only and they do extremely well on it. It will take some time to build up to the dose that will make you well. It is usually recommended that you split your dose because after you have taken it, the T3 peaks after a couple of hours, and then slowly starts to diminish, so by the afternoon, say 2.00 or 3.00p.m. you start to get the 'slump' and need to take your second dose. However, some of us are taking all our thyroid hormone at night and it does appear to be working. People are getting a better nights sleep and have more energy to get through the following day, so this is something you might want to consider at a later date, but first, you need to concentrate on taking this during the day so you can find the dose that makes you well
Guest guest
Good Morning, ~ I am on all-T3 to clear out excess RT3, which may be the same situation you are in. Continuing T4 (even through Armour) only exacerbates a high RT3 problem, as the T4 continues to convert into too high a level of RT3. I switched from 4 grains of Armour to 40mcg T3, as each grain of Armour contains 9mg of T3. As the T4 left my system (which takes 4-6 weeks), I raised my T3 gradually. With adrenal stress, it is very important to raise slowly, approx. 5-10mcg every 5-10 days. It is very important to graph temps and watch your pulse. It is normal for the temp to drop on the day of an increase. If it does not return to the pre-increase temp then your adrenals are not handling the increase and you should drop the dose back down to the amount pre-increase. For me, my adrenals were extremely stressed on the Armour. Switching to T3 relieved the burden tremendously (I am currently on 40mg Isocort). It's a chicken-and-egg thing with high RT3 and adrenal stress. I am now on week 7 of the RT3 clearing protocol and doing very well on 195mcgT3. I experienced no adrenal stress with any increase. My temps are stable, but still not averaging 98.6. I will continue to increase until my basal temps are 98.2 and my daily averages are 98.6, as long as my pulse and BP are fine. Once the RT3 clears from my system (in another 5-6 weeks) I will lower the dose of T3. Most non-tissue resistant people seem to need between 75mcg and 125mcg. How are you ferritin levels? As with any other thyroid hormone replacement, if your ferritin levels are below 50 then you may experience difficulty in raising T3. As T3 peaks in the blood 2-4 hours after taking it, and only lasts 6-8 hours, dosing throughout the day can prevent sluggish spots. Also, smaller-but-more-frequent dosing is easier on the adrenals. I take my dosing a little to the extreme ~ I dose 25mcg every 3 hours during the day (7-10-1-4-7), take a large bedtime dose (50mcg), then take a middle-of-the-night dose of 20mcg. The bedtime dose and 3am dose really helped with morning energy levels.
