Guest guest
Hi Just wondering - you said you tried to stop the hydrocortisone but your adrenals didn't pick up. What happened when you tried to stop? Also why did your GP tell you to come off the hydrocortisone and are you still on it? Also how bad were your adrenals before you started it and what tests did you have to check your adrenals? Also do you ever get situations eg. stress where you feel you could die because you are taking cortisol and can't produce enough of your own? Soz to ask so many questions - I am supposed to take some HC but can't bring myself to start at the moment as I'm too worried about being on it for life/suppressing my adrenals. Thanks E
Guest guest
Hi E, I'll interleave the answers as best as I can Subject: Hi what happened when you tried to stop Hi Just wondering - you said you tried to stop the hydrocortisone but your adrenals didn't pick up. What happened when you tried to stop? Also why did your GP tell you to come off I just felt so tired and brain foggy and started to gain weight again. It was Dr. P who atarted me on pred because I had ticked an equal number of adrenal and thyroid answers on Dr. Rind's questionnaire see http://www.drrind.com/scorecardmatrix.asp I was asked to stop as 9am blood cortisol test was lowish ,but in range and never mind to symptoms. the hydrocortisone and are you still on it? Also how bad were your adrenals before you started it and what tests did you have to check your adrenals? Also do you ever get situations eg. stress where you feel you could die because you are taking cortisol and can't produce enough of your own? Well, no. I seem to do fine, though if I know anything stressful is coming up I double dose on the day, as instructed by my surgical dentist, I have also had two operations under local anaesthetic this way with no problems. Soz to ask so many questions - I am supposed to take some HC but can't bring myself to start at the moment as I'm too worried about being on it for life/suppressing my adrenals. I found as soon as I started to get well my insecurities about taking my meds disappeared, indecision seems to be part of the whole undermedicated thing. Now I say pills won't do any good in the bottle! Just remember if you do decide to try stopping to taper the dose off over several months to allow your adrenals to pick up the load if they can.
