Debbie: Thank you for volunteering for this. I was at the April 30th meeting in which I was pretty vocal and I'll also will be submitting written comments. I urge anyone who has a comment to submit, to please email it to Debbie so she can present it for you. I cannot stress enough how important your comment is, even if it is small, to ODE. We as parents have a chance to make some changes (even if minor) on how districts do business when providing services to our precious children. This is our chance to say our piece. Again, thanks Debbie for your help . I already submitted my comments via e-mail, but I'll tell you -- they don't make it easy if you have more than one comment to make...and you all know that I, of course, had a lot to say! If you do opt to do it via e-mail, bookmark the comments page, because after you've made one comment, it kicks you out of the whole system, and you have to go all the way back in from whence you started. So, if you haven't submitted your comments via e-mail, I'd send them to Debbie...it would likely be a whole lot easier and take a whole lot less time! Had I have known, that is what I would have done! But, I'm nothing if not perseverent...much to the dismay of many.

Barb, I wish I would have been at your meeting on the 30th. The evening meeting that day was what I would call a "hostile environment." Only three parents were there...the rest were school personnel. So, everyone, keep that in mind...the school folks can comment on these just as well as we can. Please make your voice heard, as I'm sure they will make theirs heard. There are a lot of rather disturbing things they want to change, which on the outside, seem minor to them, but to me, it's just yet more ways to remove parent input and diminish our roles as equal partners on the IEP team.

Please send in those comments!

Suzane: I don't think coming to the afternoon meeting would of been any better. There were more parents of course along with school districts AND the districts Attorney Firms. You've made a great point, it seems they are slowly eliminating the parental role in this process and if I had not really emphasized it before I'll do it again. IT IS SO IMPORTANT TO HAVE PARENT INPUT INTO THE PROPOSED CHANGES. So Please if you do not have the time to get your comments to Debbie you do have until the end of this month via email; even though, it sounds like from Suzane the email can be a frustrating process. Thanks to every one who has submitted or are going to comment. Let's show the State that the parents here in this part of the state have a lot to say!
