Free Discrete Trial Trainer Live Web Classes (Webinars)

Announcing free live web based classes on the Discrete Trial Trainer. The classes are generally ½ to 1 hour and cover topics such as: Overview, Setting up Students, Student Options, and Adding Your Own Reinforcers. You will need a PC with a high speed web connection and speakers in order to attend the sessions. Check out the “Upcoming†list periodically to see the newest class schedule.

A Call for Posters is now open on the NATTAP conference website: www.ocali.org/nattap2007

The NATTAP Conference poster sessions will provide an opportunity for researchers, programs and agencies to present their work in an informal and interactive venue. Posters should be specific to autism spectrum disorders. Note: Both research and descriptive posters will be accepted, though first preference will be given to research posters. Deadline is April 30, 2007.

Autism Risk and Safety

Are You Prepared for an Autism Emergency?

Safety is a huge concern for parents and family members of an individual with autism. This

workshop is designed to identify issues of risk and provide strategies that help parents and

caregivers manage these risks at home, school and in the community. It will also provide tools and options for developing partnerships with law enforcement, first responders, and criminal justice agencies.

Disability Network of Ohio-Solidarity would like to take this opportunity to introduce you to Solidarity 2007, Ohio’s largest and oldest conference for and by people with disabilities. Held every two years since 1991, Solidarity conferences have helped more than 6,300 people with disabilities, family members, and providers to participate, learn, and gain independence, education and employment. Solidarity 2007 will take place at the Hyatt Regency hotel and Convention Center in Columbus, Ohio, on May 30 - June 1, 2007. The 2007 conference theme is “Abilities in Motion†with an emphasis on empowering people with disabilities to become active contributing members of their community. Solidarity 2007 will offer 30 workshops on topics, including; leadership training, education, employment, voting and advocacy. Over fifty exhibitors and organizations will be displaying new technology and information that can increase the independence of people with disabilities.

· Thursday evening keynote: Myles, "Understanding Unwritten Rules: The Hidden Curriculum." This session will overview the hidden curriculum, the set of unwritten rules that are important for life success. Although the hidden curriculum is not directly taught, their impact is significant. Examples of unwritten rules will be provided as will be strategies that can be used to teach these very important rules.

· Friday keynote: Minshew, "The Latest Research Findings on Cognitive and Brain Differences in ASD: How and Why People with ASD Think and Act Differently."
