Guest guest
Becky, Also, make sure that all assistive technologies needed by are specifically spelled out in the IEP. " Assistive Technolgy Device " means " any item, piece of equipment, or product system, whether acquired commercially off the shelf, modified, or customized, that is used to increase, maintain, or improve the functional capabilities of a child with a disability. " (34 CFH 300.5) There are hundreds of possibilites for assistive technologies (examples: word walls, spell checkers, switches, pencil grips, enarged math worksheets, picture schedules, voice output devices, changes in text size, non-slip surfaces, eye glasses, personal amplification systems, and many many more.) The Council for Exceptional Children has a great resource called the Assistive Technology Quick Wheel. It's $8.95 and well worth it if you want all the bases covered. Call 1-888-232-7733 or go to their website at http://www.cec.sped.org/AM/Template.cfm?Section=CEC_Resources37 & Template=/Custom\ Source/Products.cfm & ICID=235 Take care, e ---- Becky Griggs <sleeplessohio@...> wrote: > Hello all, > With IEP coming in in March and the developmnetal/medical challenges he has faced this past year, I am looking to write our own IEP. > > I was very upset this week to learn from his aid that when I am not in the building some of the adaptive equipment is not being used. Guest guest
Becky, Check out this link: http://www.bridges4kids.org/IEP/iep.goal.bank.pdf It contains 177 pages of ideas for IEP goals in multiple categories. The goals just need to be individualized for your son. Good luck! e ---- Becky Griggs <sleeplessohio@...> wrote: > Hello all, > With IEP coming in in March and the developmnetal/medical challenges he has faced this past year, I am looking to write our own IEP. > > I was very upset this week to learn from his aid that when I am not in the building some of the adaptive equipment is not being used.
