Hi, my name is Carole and for some time I have been

suffering a range of symptoms which would seem to indicate hypothyroidism (I can

tick just about every symptom on the various lists I have seen online).

The problems seemed to begin after having my ovaries removed

(had a hysterectomy 2 years prior) 2 years ago and have gradually worsened.

After considerable research I approached my GP and he took

blood tests which came back as normal!! I was devastated as you can imagine. I

just want to feel better.

That was six months ago but as things have progressively

worsened I have gone back to my GP to try to get help. I have seen 2 different

specialists, one a gynaecologist and the other a general physician and both

have come back with normal thyroid function tests. What was revealed was

abnormal liver function tests but after follow up tests they seem to have

returned to normal. I am due to have a follow up consultation but the two of

them seem to have no answers.

Having read some of the literature on the TPA site it seems I

am having the same problems as lots of other people!! I plan to go back to my

GP and ask to be referred to a specialist endocrinologist and would welcome referrals

from any one who knows one in the North West of England.

Is there anyone out there who has had the same experience

and can share their knowledge/advice.

Thanks

Carole Ivell
