Guest guest
Hi Sheila Thank you for replying so promptly. First of all I have never been on synthetic. Dr Skinner put me on armour from the start. Secondly, I did have my blood test about 2 hours after taking my armour. I didn't realise the implications of this. Thirdly, I haven't had my ferritin, vit D etc done. Do you think the GP would agree to do these at the surgery? I know I'm going to have a battle if I go to the endo so perhaps I should go it alone. I'll get a new TFT after 24 hours without armour first and see where that leads. I'll also ask for the other tests and then take it from there. How did you know it was extra T4 you needed, and not T3? Did you go by your blood test results? Thank you Chris
Guest guest
I guessed you had taken your Armour before the test. Mention this to your GP. It shouldn't be a problem for your GP to do these basic tests - you can only ask, but if she refuses, you can get them tested privately - though why we should have to pay when they are done on the NHS I have no idea. Give the GP a try, but explain your reasons. Tell her/him you know that if these are low, they will stop your thyroid hormone from being absorbed as it should be. I didn't know it was T4 I needed in addition to Armour - I simply tried the addition of 10 mcgs T3 and after 9 days, I had a terrible reaction. I then waited a few days and added 25 mcgs T4 - that was what I needed as the remaining symptoms went away. I didn't go by blood results, I never do. Blood results are pretty useless once you have started thyroid hormone replacement. luv - Sheila Hi Sheila Thank you for replying so promptly. First of all I have never been on synthetic.
