Guest guest
Hi Sheila, Am I right in thinking you have a list of NHS endo's that are sympathetic to adrenal probs? I am taking my hubby with me to see my GP on Wed, to show her my ASI results, to give her the opportunity to treat me .....!!!! If you have a list I could specify who I would like to see under the choose & book system, if she offers..... I have an appt with Dr P soon, but am just going through the motions in case by some miracle (I do believe in them)I am offered t'ment via the NHS, it does happen occasionally I believe?? Many thanks Anne
Guest guest
Sorry to but in but I wouldnt hold your breath on that one! I took my ASI results to show my doctor and he couldnt understand them and had never heard of such tests, he then referred me to an NHS endo as he couldnt help me and well the rest is history, I have seen the so called endo twice and wont be seeing him again. I started HC before my first appointment with the endo and of course he wants me off that so they can run their own adrenal tests, I have just had another appointment through to see him again in July! I hope by then I have sorted myself out, I have seen Dr P though so I have him to fall back on. I hoped, like you, that the NHS might help, I had to go through the motions to find out they wont! Good luck anyway- Hi Sheila,Am I right in thinking you have a list of NHS endo's that are sympathetic to adrenal probs?I am taking my hubby with me to see my GP on Wed, to show her my ASI results, to give her the opportunity to treat me .....!!!!If you have a list I could specify who I would like to see under the choose & book system, if she offers.....I have an appt with Dr P soon, but am just going through the motions in case by some miracle (I do believe in them)I am offered t'ment via the NHS, it does happen occasionally I believe??Many thanksAnne
Guest guest
Sorry Anne - the list of doctors I have are doctors who will prescribe either synthetic T4/T3 combination therapy and/or Armour Thyroid. There are doctors who recognise the need to treat adrenals if there is a problem with cortisol and DHEA output but the problem is the NHS testing is all wrong. The ACTH test they do is done at only one time during the day (usually around 9.00a.m) and at that time, your cortisol is supposed to be at its highest (it dwindles down during the day until around midnight, it is at its lowest. When they give you the injection, believe me, it is a well known fact that the synacthen they give you would make a dead donkey kick - so they come up with " …there you go, your adrenals are fine and you are putting out sufficient cortisol " . They test ONLY for 's disease, which is a condition where you are putting out a very low dose of cortisol - they do not check the shades of grey in-between 's disease and Cushing's syndrome (too much cortisol). Tell your GP that even on the Patient Information Leaflet that is stuffed into every box of thyroxine it says " Tell your doctor if…you are suffering from decreased function of the adrenal glands " and on another brand of levothyroxine " Before taking your Medicine, make sure you have told your doctor if you….are suffering from a condition caused by an underactive adrenal gland. My endocrinologist told me this meant " 's Disease " - I told him that had this been the case, it would have said 's. The ONLY test you should have is the 24 hour salivary adrenal profile that tells you where your cortisol is at four specific times during the day. Luv - Sheila - hoping your miracle will happen - and yes, it might if you have a lovely, caring, intelligent GP who has a mind of her own Hi Sheila, Am I right in thinking you have a list of NHS endo's that are sympathetic to adrenal probs?
