import vat and post office charge

Hi,

I was looking at IP website as a possible source for Armour (my usual source has

been out of

stock for quite a while), and I notice under the shipping methods that it says

that the

packages don't usually have to be cleared by customs. Surely that can't be

right?

Usually a package coming in from abroad has that green customs declaration on it

with the

value (including shipping!) and the post office then slaps a VAT charge (I guess

that's just

gone to 15% of the value) and £8 processing fee on it.

Can anyone tell me of their experience? I've always been charged in the past

(except when

the postman delivered first by mistake ;) ). I won't even start my rant about

the subsidy I'm

supplying the government for their failure to treat my condition satisfactorily!

Thanks,

Cat.
