Guest guest
I found that link very interesting, thanks My mum is on a dose of 75mcg and takes 3x25mcg togetherI am on a dose of 150mcg and take 1x100mcg plus 1x50mcg together.I'm surprised to see that 25mcg levothyrovine pills actually cost MORE than 50mcg pills. See for yourself onhttp://www.cks. library.nhs. uk/hypothyroidis m/management/ quick_answers/scenario_subclinic al_hypothyroidis m#252738006(sorry, tinyurl isn't working)That web page shows 56x50mcg costs the NHS £2.72but 56x25mcg costs the NHS £3.22WHY!!! I wonder how much money the NHS can cumulatively save over time by prescribing my mum a daily dose of 1x50mcg plus 1x25mcg instead of 3x25mcg? Multiply the saving by the number of people on similar prescription arrangements for life.Or is the real intention simply to get people to ingest as much pill filler material as possible? Is there a lactose and maize flour mountain which needs shifting??
Guest guest
I came to that page while checking out Dawn's thread " Found this on the NHS website, is it true? " The advice that site provides certainly explains why the NHS got away with keeping me ill for 10 years. It recommends no treatment for TSH levels of less than 10. If it wasn't for the TPA-UK, I would not have got it together to have fought back and finally start retrieving my health and life! Guest guest
I am considerably better than I was but am still battling with the undeserved weight gain. Sheila posted a link on the board which showed that I may be one of the unlucky ones who has weight gain as a side effect of T4 alone. However, it's only been 7 months since I finally started my treatment so I'm going to continue as I am and see what happens. Some of my old symptoms are sneaking back into my life but are not affecting me for more than a few days at a time. They came back when the weather turned colder so it seems to be a seasonal relapse. When my mum was 1st diagnosed she was put straight onto 200mcg - ye gads!! - It was not the most sensible way of managing her underactive thyroid but eventually a more appropriate dose was applied. I'm surprised she's on 75mcg as I'd assumed she'd still be on a higher dose than me. SHE actually lost weight on thyroxine and is several stone lighter than me - maybe that explains her lower dose! I know many people eventually make the switch to Armour, is that something you think you might do? > >
