Well, where do I start. The main thing is he has prescribed T3 albeit only 5mcg a day, for the next two months. But at least he says he takes into consideration how the patient feels. I also have to keep taking the 125 mcg of thyroxine.

He has given me a blood test form to do two weeks before seeing him in January. One of the things he has asked for is 'morning cortisol'. Could you tell me when would be the best time for this, for me to try and get it done as near that time as I can. He has also prescribed some diuretics.

Even though I told him that whilst I was taking T3 I had no problems with excessive tiredness during the day and that it came back when it was stopped, he still wants to refer me to a sleep clinic. So if anyone has had any experience of what they do there I would love to hear from you.

It was rather funny. I was in the room being weighed and having my BP checked, when a doctor walks in, asking if I was ready for him, and he said he recognised me and had he seen me before. I said "are you Dr. E". No, he was the one I saw before and who I was having all the problem with. I think he was a bit taken aback when I said that I do not want to see anyone but Dr. E.

He was lovely, and very handsome on top of it - or am I biased because if his understanding attitude. You hear of patients falling in love with their doctors but this is the first time I have lol. No, this is the second time, the first time was with the French Endo who I thought would prescribe Armour for me and who had a lovely French accent, but he went to practice in Switzerland so that dream (of getting Armour prescribed) faded.

He is already on your list Sheila.

I would love to be a fly on the wall when my GP reads the report from the hospital, as he said I would get no different opinion from this one as the other.

Now, if a consultant prescribes something, can the doctor refuse to prescribe it? Doesn't matter, because if he does refuse, there is a good reason for me to go to the PCT and ask for a new doctor who will be prepared to prescribe it.

At the moment I shall do exactly what he says but on days that I feel the need I will slip in a grain or two of Armour.

Thanks Mo, the T-convert arrived this morning. I cannot see any harm will be done giving it a go as well, but perhaps leave it off for a week or two before the blood test, to get a truer picture.
