Hi,

There has been some material online recently about how treating

subclinical hypothyroidism may prevent the development of heart

problems.

See

http://heartdisease.about.com/b/2008/09/25/does-subclinical-

hypothyroidism-cause-diastolic-heart-failure.htm

http://thyroid.about.com/od/heartdisease/a/subclinical.htm

(Sorry Tinyurl isn't working at the moment so I couldn't shorten the

links)

Certainly all my chest pain and erratic heart rhythm has ceased

since I've finally been on levothyroxine. I am hoping that this may

have saved my heart. If I'd gone untreated for much longer I dread

to think how much damage my heart would have sustained.

Hi kjI have just uploaded a large document of many of the stories told by members of TPA-UK in their endeavour to get a diagnosis and the correct treatment. Scroll down until you come to "Stories". Read through these, and you will probably find the answer to your question there. There can be a lot of damage caused by the dangerous consequences of undiagnosed and undertreated low thyroid and these include: serious mental problems, seizures, heart disease, diabetes including misdiagnosis and complications, constipation resulting in colon cancer, all female problems (due to high amounts of dangerous forms of oestrogen), including: tumours, fibroids, ovarian cysts, PMS, endometriosis, breast cancer, miscarriage, heavy periods and cramps, bladder problems leading to infections, Anemia, Elevated CPK, Elevated creatinine, Elevated transaminases, Hypercapnia, Hyperlipidemia, Hypoglycemia, Hyponatremia, Hypoxia, LeukopeniaRespiratory acidosis and others....
