Guest guest
May 2, 2007 Dear Parents, The Hattie Larlham ASD Collaborative and Dr. Audet, Assistant Professor of Speech Pathology and Audiology at Kent State University would like to invite you to participate in a Parent Focus Group. The purpose of this session will be to discuss the possibility of developing a retreat for parents of children with autism spectrum diagnoses. The retreat would provide a stress-free, rural environment where parents could reconnect with themselves, their spouses, other adults, relax and engage in meaningful recreational and educational activities. Trained respite care would be provided to participating families. Please see the attached literature search summary to learn about the benefits of respite, and existing retreat programs in other areas. The mission of the Hattie Larlham ASD Collaborative is to provide quality services to individuals with autism spectrum disorders. We hope to accomplish this through a shared effort between Hattie Larlham, parents and professionals in the surrounding community. The Parent Retreat Focus Group will be held on May 30th from 6:30 – 8 pm at The Hattie Larlham Center for Children with Disabilities in Mantua, OH. Child supervision and activities will be available. You will find directions included for your convenience. Please RSVP by May 28th to 1.800.233.8611 ext. 3068 so that we know how many children will be in attendance. We hope that you will all join us. Your participation and input is important to our success! Sincerely, Beth Yoder-Balla Intake Coordinator Coordinator, Hattie Larlham ASD Collaborative P.S.
