Dear Friend of ASO:

As one of its first intitiatives, the Ohio Autism Coalition, a coalition of many of the autism advocacy groups in Ohio, pooled resources from the participating groups and created an online resource database. Originally housed on the ASO website, the database provided a list providers of all types providing products and services in Ohio. Recently, the Coalition voted to turn the database over to OCALI, so that permanent staff could update, expand and maintain it.

The Ohio Center for Autism and Low Incidence (OCALI) is continuing to compile a comprehensive database of service providers and resources (medical, educational, therapeutic, etc.) available to individuals with disabilities and their families in Ohio. OCALI is working with autism and disability support organizations, Ohio public service agencies, and private providers to maintain this database. NOTE - If you had already listed your services in the original database, that information will be ported over to the OCALI database.

OCALI was established by the Ohio Legislature and is funded by the Ohio Department of Education. At the direction of the Ohio Autism Taskforce, OCALI is working to make this service information available to families of children and adults with disabilities throughout the state. The database will be searchable on the OCALI website (ocali.org) and it will be disseminated in print format to parents and families on a regional basis. It will also be accessible from the ASO website.

Please encourage service providers to list their service with OCALI by downloading and completing the service information form at http://www.ocali.org/pdf/FSDirectory.pdf. The form can be faxed to Sue Fraley at 614.410.1090, or email to sue_fraley@....

If you have any questions on the database, please call Donna M. Owens, Family Service Administrator at 866.886.2254 ext.0381.

Please circulate this to any and all service providers you are familiary with!

Sincerely,

Barbara C. YavorcikPresidentAutism Society of Ohio701 S. Main St.Akron, OH 44311(330) 376-0211fax: (330) 376-1226email: askASO@...home: byavorcik@...web: www.autismohio.orgSee what's free at AOL.com.
