,

I feel your pain. I have had UC for the past 13

years. These past 7 years I have become steroid

dependent. 60 mgs. is a lot to be on. Steroids can

thin your bones, so make sure they have you on

something for that or you will also have osteoperosis

(like I do).

Over the past year, my colon started failing & I was

forced this past Jan. to have my entire large colin

and all be 1 " of my rectum removed. They created an

internal " J " pouch and I wore an illiostimy pouch for

three months. They reverse the pouch during the 2nd

surgery. I'm still having problems with my stools

being all water, but we're working on that.

All of the doctors I asked told me that since they

don't know what causes UC, they aren't able to cure

it. They also felt ( & after so many years of having

UC), that no particular foods helped or hurt UC.

Good luck to you.

Pam
