Kim,

One of the side effects of bromism or bromide detox can be urethral spasm. This spasm often mistaken for a bladder infection. Remember, the major organs of bromide detox are the kidneys (and then the bladder) so you may need to slow down on the iodine so your kidneys are not overloaded OR double up on the salt water protocol to get the bromide out faster. If the salt loading isn't powerful enough, you may try "pulse-dosing" the iodine by stopping for 48 hours then restarting. That seems to rest the kidneys. A lot of people swear by pulse-dosing.

Good luck and please report back,

Kim,

I initially took Iosol for a bladder infection and it worked almost

immediately. I think it worked because iodine is antibacterial

whereas iodides are not. Iosol is iodine plus ammonium iodide which

releases its iodine immediately in water, so it gives the body a lot

more pure iodine than the potassium iodide products like Lugol's and

Iodoral, which only provide a small amount of free iodine. Also be

aware that if you take Vitamin C with iodine, it will convert it to an

iodide and thus lose its antibacterial properties.

After the bladder infection went away, I kept taking the Iosol and my

experience backs up what Lynne is saying here. Besides stomach upset,

I also experienced lower back pain which I knew was my kidneys. I was

doing research on iodine online and found out that the pains were a

symptom of bromism so I have decided to do the pulse dosing Lynn

recommends. I tried the salt water protocol and with the two

techniques, my pain went away in a day. I'm going to up my dosage

slowly and back off and pulse if the pain comes back, it is not fun!

Anyway, it sounds like you are experiencing bromism and not a bladder

infection. Hope this helps and that you feel better soon!
