Guest guest
For non-traditional popsicles in Tupperware popsicle molds: Freeze homemade applesauce in popsicle molds. Mix fruit or homemade jam into SCD yogurt. Freeze in small, snack sized Ziploc bags for frozen yogurt on the go. Cut a hole in the end of the bag for easy access/eating. Freeze juice from canned Dole. When you have leftover homemade jam, put ¼ cup of hot water in the jar and shake well. Pour into popsicle molds and freeze. Stick a toothpick in the center of blackberries, strawberries, raspberries or sliced bananas. Freeze on a tray. Once frozen, store in freezer bags. For easy snow cones, freeze orange juice " not from concentrate " in ice cube trays. Store frozen juice cubes in a plastic bag. Blend 5 cubes in the blender until they have a shaved ice consistency. The shaved ice will keep its consistency if kept frozen in a container. For watermelon popsicles, blend one cup each watermelon chunks (seeds removed), orange juice " not from concentrate " and water. Blend well. Then pour and freeze into molds. For strawberry popsicles, blend 2 cups strawberries, 1 cup SCD ice cream or yogurt, 4 cups orange juice " not from concentrate " and 1 tablespoons honey. Blend smooth. Pour into molds and freeze. For banana popsicles, dissolve one Knox unflavored gelatin with one cup boiling water. In a blender, mix gelatin, 1 banana and 1 cup scd yogurt or scd ice cream. Blend well and pour into molds. Pudding Pops Moo Fruit Freezer Pops (submitted by Roxie in Texas) 1 bag (16 oz.) frozen fruit, strawberries I had frozen 1 1/2 cup of SCD yogurt 1/4 cup honey Combine the fruit, honey, and 1/2 cup of yogurt in a food processor and process for 5 seconds. Add the rest of the yogurt and process for 15 seconds more. Mixture should be smooth and almost frozen. Scoop 1/2 cup of frozen mixture into 5 oz cups or popsicle molds. Insert sticks and freeze until firm. Banana Pops (Submitted by ) Slice bananas into disks Roll banana discs into SCD yogurt Add topping that you wish. We rolled our disks in chopped pecans. After freezing it was like eating a frozen candy bar. Okay, maybe not that good. Other toppings that work well: chopped raisins, any kind of nut (cashew, peanuts, almonds), peanut butter with out the yogurt. Another topping we did was a cinnamon. I will warn you that it's messy because of the yogurt. But you don't have the guilt of giving them something unhealthy, and it's a cheap " popsicle. " Ketchup Recipe The ketchup in BTVC is used with tomato juice so I don't know what the quantity of tomatoes would be. I put a whole can of tomato juice in pan with 1/2 cup vinegar and let boil until its ketchup consistency and then add 20% honey to it and boil for 5 minutes more. voila! kethcup. Charlene Flikkema " <jflikkema@...> Squash Buttons by Debbie Kirkland One large acorn squash cooked 2 eggs 1 tbs honey a little cinnamon Blend in food processor and pour small amount 1-2 tsp in well greased mini muffin pan and bake on 300 degrees for 40 minutes Note: a " pinch " of baking soda " Amy " <amy.cunningham@...> Crisp and Crunchy Meringues Beat the egg whites with an electric whisk, until very stiff. Gently warm the honey until it becomes runny. Drizzle the slightly warmed honey into the egg whites, while beating continuously. Gently fold in the other ingredients, then pipe or spoon the mixture in small blobs onto a greased baking tray. You do not need to actually BAKE them, instead you dry them out. Oven temperature: 120 degrees Celsius, until the blobs are crisp and dry. This will take a long time - at least an hour. Then turn off the oven and allow the food to cool inside - this adds even more drying time. MERINGUES 3 large egg whites 1/8 teaspoon salt 1/4 cup honey 1/2 teaspoon SCD-legal vanilla You need to butter the pan and make small meringues. Cecilia Melbourne, Australia Carol F. : " Carol Frilegh " <c.frilegh@...> Fig-Pecan Energy Bar Recipe 3 cups pecans 1.5 cups soaked dried figs with stems removed [dry them at home] 1.5 tablespoons pure vanilla extract Be sure to allow dried figs to soak in water for 1-2 hours before preparing this recipe. Drain figs and combine them with raw pecans and pure vanilla extract in a food processor. Process until figs and pecans are well combined to form a moist granola bar-like texture. You may need to pause the food processor once or twice to scrape ingredients off the sides of the processor so that you are not left with big chunks of figs and pecans. Transfer homogenized figs and pecans to a baking dish or tray and press down gently with a spatula until mixture is approximately 2-3 cm thick. Use a knife to cut into rectangular or square bars. Put baking dish or tray in the refrigerator for a couple of hours or the freezer for about 20 minutes to allow the bars to take form. Meleah " robin " <rmcorner@...> **Note: All dried fruits are advanced foods and according to Elaine should only be used occasionally.(top of page 75 Edition 10 of BTVC). POSTED BY Dr. Mercola View Dr. Mercola's Profile Dehydrate Oven needs to go lower than 200°F. Made banana chips, dehydrated garlic and onion (for grinding into powder) in my oven a few years ago. I used a very low temperature , propped it open slightly and put a fan on low outside the oven door to circulate out the moist air. There are some directions at this link for oven drying, sun drying and using a dehydrator: http://www.thefarm.org/charities/i4at/surv/dryguide.htm Ignore the SCD illegals like corn and potatoes on this webpage and if you want to make jerky you'll have to make a SCD legal marinade. I add tomato and orange juice, a little fresh ginger, honey, a big roundedoablespoon of almond butter and a shot of Tobasco sauce. This is a thick lighter brown sauce. For darker sauces, adding grape juice or wine to your stir fry is effective and use almond flour if you want a thicker sauce.
