Guest guest
I can't eat whole wheat without problems, it's worse than white wheat. I remember reading somewhere that Os should avoid oatmeal if they wanted to lose weight. I'm not sure which book it was in. Exercise was a bust - zilch, nada. Still I managed to lose 3 pounds and 0 inches this week. My only real avoid this week was a handful of Fritos on Thursday. I can not say that I have had an increase in energy. You might try eggs for breakfast. Scramble the eggs with fresh spinach and onion, or broccoli, red peppers etc. You can make it different every time. I also cook them sunny side up (or over easy) and serve with fresh salsa. I actually had a sweet potato and pecans for breakfast today. Guest guest
I've eaten sweet potatoes for breakfast. If I stop losing weight, I will eliminate the oatmeal and see what happens. Congrats on the 3 lbs!!! I often change up eggs for breakfast, but I'm not crazy about salsa. Wish I liked it better. My weight stayed the same and my waist went UP a half inch :-( SO I do not yet have a workable formula. I need to adjust and try something else. Maybe more protein. Also I had a very upsetting week, when a business issue went bad. Stress affects me extremely badly so that's also something I need to work on. > This week I'm going > to try to walk a little more. Me too - I eat away from home at least one main meal a day, and planning or finding something suitable can be a challenge. Hard to do much at home- I can not get to my kitchen stuff by wheelchair. It's not designed for that. So what I do has to be on a bamboo cutting board on my lap and cooked in the microwave; It is not conducive to the greatest cooking:-) Besides I suspect I was born without cooking genes:-) Knowing what's healthy and actually preparing it, are two entirely different subjects for me. > If I had noticed my husband > didn't finish the steak last night I may have opted to eat that!! My night > off from the diet didn't go well. I ate whole wheat past and now I have > belly cramps this morning. Serves me right, huh? Hey, it's a learning curve. I messed up too. I ate some delicious sausage and rice dish yesterday made by a friend without checking the sausage for wheat (I knew better but did not do it, it looked too good!) - there was no other wheat. I'm also " paying " . In fact I hope the half inch waist gain is related as a " temporary " effect! Oh yes and then I later ate a bunch of stuff to try to " settle " my insides - none of it beneficial to the challenge, though it helped me feel better ! SO we learn as we go. Perfect is boring:-) I got my magazine reward for working at it this week, regardless of results. And I took the evening off to knit as well. Know what? You can not eat and knit at the same time.... Yes becasue there are more lectins in the germ that is present in whole wheat. > I > remember reading somewhere that Os should avoid oatmeal if they wanted to > lose weight. I did okay on the exercise, not a lot - but a little every day so a start. > My only real avoid this week was a handful of Fritos on > Thursday. I tend to add a half slice of Havarti cheese, and a 1/4 teaspoon of hit cury powder mix. (Rajah brand from a friend in South Africa where they know all about curry). > You can make it different every time. > I also cook them sunny side up (or over easy) and serve with fresh salsa. Guest guest
One day at a time, right? This morning the scales show a total 4.4 lb. weight loss, so I think my night off the diet showed that temporary gain...and prevented the scales from showing any loss. Now I feel happier. I just ate a banana to tide me over until breakfast time. I will count that as part of my breakfast. It has to be a big challenge to cook from a wheelchair. Is the wheelchair temporary or a pemanent fixture now? I used to know a man who had been in a wheelchair since his early twenties, he was closer to 45 by the time I knew him. He had his kitchen all arranged for everything to be no more than counter high, and he had a short table for chopping and mixing things up. He did some clever cooking. I had no idea sausage had wheat in it. Was this turkey sausage? Otherwise that would be 2 avoids, wheat and pork. Wheat, alone kills me. I buy Rudy's spelt bread and it is pretty good. I don't know if you can buy that everywhere or if it is just local. I have to tell you how thankful I am for this group. You guys keep me thinking and growing. And I don't mean growing bigger.
