Guest guest
Hi all Have to make this short as we have a ton of things to do. We have spent the past month traveling across country and at boy scout camp. I have TONS of email to go through, I had to promise Bob and no email other than short one to familiy while on vaction! I hope to get caught up with the email within a week. We got home from vacation the 19th had doctor appointment and test the 20th and 21st and left the 23rd for Boy scout camp. The doctors office tried to reach us all last week to have admitted but never called the cell phone, I will be discussing this with the doctor. Anyway, is being admitted ot Akron Childrens hospital tomorrow morning to have a swollow test done than they will put him to sleep and insert a NG tube into the intestine. His newest films came back and he is back up more into the small intestine than he was in May. He has been on Maralox 17 Gr 2X daily and 2 TSP of Benefiber 2X daily for several months and he is worse. So this is the next step. They tell us that he could be discharged as early as the evening of the 4th. It normally takes 24-36 hours to " clean " the bowle out. But they have seen it take several days. Each child is differnt. Has anyone gone through this with there kids and what can we expect? If you look at them as hurdles that strengthen you each time you go over one, then you're going to be a success. Carson
Guest guest
Hi, Becky -- Oh, my...we will definitely add and your family to our prayers. I do know what a swallow study is like, but as for the rest, I admit I have no experience with it. A swallow study was done on our youngest, mainly to see if there were any structural abnormalities causing feeding problems. They would take x-ray like films of how different foods went down, from what I remember...it's kind of like if you've ever had an Upper GI test done at the hospital -- where you drink Barium (tastes like strawberry-flavored liquefied chalk)and they take X- rays to see how it goes down. It's not painful. Keep us posted. I'll be thinking about you. --Suzanne
