rice bran vs oat bran

I'm a O+ Gatherer and oat bran was on the beneficial (or whatever they

call it) list for Gatherers on Genotype. So I've been having that

instead of oatmeal for a hot breakfast. I hadn't though of using it as a

thickener. I usually use a dash of rice flour for that. Will also look

for rice bran, hopefully also in bulk at WF.

Thanks for the tips! I also make on the fly stir fries or soup/stews (in

cooler weather) with whatever veg and protein is on hand, hopefully from

the farmer's market (organic and/or grass fed, preferably).

Hi ,

Rice bran is a superfood, so you can as much as you like. A half cup

of it makes a nice cereal option, if you eat cereal, with the right

things added for example.

Personally I like to use it as a thickener in soups and stews and

mixed food inventions in the wok.

I " wok " a lot of meals - start with onions and maybe masala spices,

add some kind of animal protein (meat/fish/shrimp etc), some kind of

green and red veg, and a little of some kind of " other " veg with more

oomph, like sweet potato, rutabaga or parsnips etc, plus a dash of

teff, millet or quinoa, a bit of rice bran and lots more flavoring

from herbs, and spices, some red wine and water. I like a thick

enough to cut, soup consistency. Juicy food to eat with a fork :-)

Just add things in the reverse of cooking time needed, order.

I stash some in the freezer for other meals to just heat and eat. No

two inventions are the same. But the " formula " is similar. I usually

have a variety of inventions in the freezer. Or I try to :-)

Namaste,

Irene
