Workshop Topic: An Introduction to Applied Behavior Analysis/Verbal Behavior: Data-Based Programming for Children with Autism Spectrum Disorders When: October 4-6, 2007 (8:30-4pm) Where: Faith Community United Methodist 8230 RoadWest Chester, OH 45069 Description: This workshop is designed to give parents and professionals an introduction to applied behavior analysis and verbal behavior. Participants will have an introduction to related terminology, view video examples of various learners at various skill levels, and have an introduction to how to set up ABA/VB programming. Participants will have an introduction to the Assessment of Basic Language and Learning Skills (ABLLS) and how this assessment is used in ABA/VB programming. Participants will review Skinnerfs analysis of verbal behavior in regard to effectively teaching language acquisition. Participants will have the opportunity to

demonstrate various teaching procedures and error correction procedures both during intensive teaching at the table and in the natural environment. This is an introductory workshop and is geared towards parents and professionals who have not had extensive experience with ABA/VB. Speaker: Flake, BCABA has worked with children with autism spectrum disorders using the principles of applied behavior analysis/verbal behavior since October 2001. During that time she has had the opportunity to work at a year round school for children with autism spectrum disorder in Columbus, OH (May 2005- Oct. 2005) and work at Dr. Carbone's clinic in Valley Cottage, NY

(Oct. 2005- May 2006). In May, 2005, Ms. Flake graduated from Northern Kentucky University with a bachelor's degree in elementary and special education. She is a Board Certified Associate Behavior Analyst, completing coursework through University of North Texas.
