Guest guest
This is the letter I received from the Governor's wife concerning vaccinations. My letter is below. She said she would like more information. What links and articles do people recommend that I can send to her? If you would like to email off the list that would be fine. Thanks for your help, , I looked into your concerns about the immunization PSA I did for the Rotary and the Nampa Health District. You are absolutely right that immunization is a voluntary procedure and people choose not to vaccinate their children because of personal, religious and medical reasons. I hope the PSA did not indicate otherwise. The prevention of and eradication of some diseases can be achieved with 90% immunization because that prevents the spread of the disease. Even with 10% of the children not immunized all can be protected from disease. As to the rotavirus vaccine, I understand that that vaccine was removed from distribution officially in November 1999. In July 1999 it had been recommended that health-care providers and parents postpone use of the rhesus rotavirus vaccine-tetravalent at least for infants. I was not aware that the tail of the PSA listed this vaccine until you pointed this out. The PSA has not run since the vaccine was officially pulled. To your point, the reviewer of the PSA should have been more aware as to the status of that particular vaccine prior to running the ad. I appreciate your comments and bringing this to our attention. I have studied some about vaccine risks and am aware that there is a constant vigilance toward making all vaccines safe. I agree that they should be voluntary and that parents should be informed as to all the risk and benefit factors. The understandings I have thus far tell me that the potential risks are out weighed by the health of immunized children and the health of all children in general because of the voluntary immunizations. Other information you would like to send me would be gratefully received. Thank you. Kempthorne Mrs. Kempthorne, I was saddened to see your advertisement pushing immunizations. I know as a mother you would agree that the parents must make tough decisions about the health of their children. Please be aware that people do chose not to vaccinate their children because of personal, religious and medical reasons. And in the State of Idaho, as with all states, immunizations are not mandatory. They should not be portrayed as such. In addition, there are risks associated with immunizations that you may not be aware of. I would be willing to send you with as much information that you would like concerning the risks. I was also upset that your ad recommended that children should receive the rotavirus vaccine. The CDC is recommending that that vaccine be postponed. Please review the following link: http://www.cdc.gov/epo/mmwr/preview/mmwrhtml/mm4843a5.htm If you are interested in learning about vaccine risks, please let me know. Thank you, Deroin
Guest guest
My perspective is: avoid immunizations. immunizations hi O's! ... my son is scheduled for middle school shots this summer... Teen booster tetanus/diptheria, Hep A, and meningococcal. .. he's an O... do you have any opinions to share on if these are all really necessary? I've gotten way-varying opinions from nurses and naturopaths ... and thought I'd reach for the blood type perspective. Thanks! Sylvetsky Earth Soup IIR Cert. Reflexology GIFAM Cert. Guest guest
What a terrible dilema. I just didn't take my daughter to the doctor and was able to avoid many vacc. But the school system will not allow kids in school without them so she still got more than I wanted. And most school systems are getting stricter on monitoring kids vacc. so I'm not sure what luck you might have with that anymore. Personally, I would research doctors and regulations and avoid all you possibly can. -- Cheers, Kathy
Guest guest
The Measles, Mumps, Rubella and chicken pox vaccines are live or attenuated viruses which can shed and cause an exposure problem for CLL patients. The injectable flu shot is OK but the flu-mist is not. So it seems that your grandson can pose a risk for up to 3 weeks (nobody knows for sure how long). > > My husband has CLL/SLL, watch and wait at this point. My grandson just got his MMR, flu shot and chicken pox vaccine. Is it okay for him to be around my husband? >
Guest guest
This question should be answered by a doctor who knows your husband's condition. More information about vaccines and who should not get them by the CDC: http://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/vpd-vac/should-not-vacc.htm ~chris > > My husband has CLL/SLL, watch and wait at this point.
