Guest guest
I found this online....please send it to anyone you know living in Summit County so they can take advantage of such a good thing! A big tip of the hat to Martucci, principal of Stow's Echo Hills Elementary School and treasurer of the Autism Family Foundation of Northeast Ohio, and Akron's Barbara Hudak, the organization's president. The pair are very much in the vanguard of helping local families struggling with autism. Autism is a complex neurological disorder that affects communication, social interaction and other aspects of living. In recent years, autism has been on an alarming rise in the United States, with newly released figures from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention placing the current incidence rate at 1 in 166 births. The debate is ongoing as to why. In the meantime, Martucci and Hudak are doing what they can to help. ''We would like you to let the parents of students with autism know that we are offering monies,'' Martucci writes. ''Our foundation is now allotting Summit County parents and/or teachers of students with autism'' grants of $500 to $5,000. Those interested in applying or learning more about the support group can call 330-688-1028.
