Guest guest
Okay, I watched the show. It is weightlifting. I guess I'm pulling out the Campitelli, and Joyce Vedral videos. It brings back to my memory good old Janeen. Those of you who were on the list when Janeen was on the list might remember that she was on a losing plateau for quite a while complaining of laying next to her stomach on the bed. :-) She started with the Campitelli videos and was able to get to her goal. She left the list to be a personal trainer! :-) I guess I'm going to have to get those weights out from under the bed again. :-) Karma Tucker If You Knew It was Poison, Would You Still Buy It? Guest guest
If Karma didn't respond to you, her " secret " is that she works out with weights 4 times a week. She alternates upper body one day, lower the next. She also said she does no more than 30 mins cardio (didn't say if that was each day or not). She wasone amazing woman. Has 8 children and is 7 months pregnant with her 9th!!!! Beautiful woman, gorgeous figure and beautiful looking family. Talk about a woman having it all, in my book she does. She said she turned 40 3 weeks ago. Then there was the 85 year old that works out with weights (small ones, but weights nevertheless). It was a very good show. I was glad that I had started on the Cruise 8 min workout too. Guest guest
Yes, I watched it. It was a plug for the new " Bob Green " weight lifting program. Guest guest
I caught the tail end of the segment... he has a hearing loss on top of his other issues. They said specially made hearing aids but interestingly enough they are not attached by molds. Perhaps a bone conduction aids. In watching the remainder of the show, makes me greatful for what I have. My deafness pales in comparison. From people like those profiled on Oprah we can draw our strength. Amazing group of people. -Amy -- In , " sing2phins " <sing2phins@y...> wrote: > Hi everyone . . . I turned on Oprah about 40 minutes in this > afternoon and just caught the tail end of a segment. Guest guest
I'm on the West Coast and just watched that segment of Oprah. All they said was he wears a special hearing aid for a hearing loss. It was like a headband with something on both sides, but didn't look like the CI's I've seen, so I'm not sure. Story was mostly about his birth deformity. Still a good story. =) Vicki Oprah today Hi everyone . . . I turned on Oprah about 40 minutes in this afternoon and just caught the tail end of a segment. It was a little boy with some kind of deformity of his arms and legs who got to meet Cal Ripken, Jr. I noticed he was wearing a CI (and maybe was even bilateral, but I couldn't tell or sure). Did anyone else see this, and if so, were his implants mentioned at all? Just curious.

Guest guest
I saw that too, but thought it was a HA on his left ear but not in the correct postion over his ear. I thought because of his deformity he couldn't reach up to move it to where it belonged. Was I wrong? There was no mention of his hearing that I remember. Les G Oprah today Hi everyone . . . Guest guest
I only saw the last three segments. One with the boy with the birth defeat where his limbs did not grow properly and has a hearing loss. The other an 8 year old girl with cancer who has raised money for cancer research selling lemonade- a nationwide event in her honor. And the last segment about a boy who found a man floating at sea. Lucky guy. No disabilities here. -Amy > Amy, > > What other disabilities were portrayed on the show? > >
Guest guest
Thanks for all the responses. Like I said, I only caught the tail end of it and thought the aid looked like the BTE processor of a CI. I did notice the placement of it, but sometimes when my ear is sore, I let the BTE stick to the magnet for a little while, which gets the hook off my poor ear, so I thought maybe that's what he'd done. It probably is a BAHA, though I've never seen one, so I could be wrong. He didn't seem to have any trouble understanding, though, did he? Does letting the processor stick to the magnet hurt the CI? The only difference I notice is the sound seems to get a little bit softer. I wondered if the magnet depeletes the energy of the batteries, but I don't do it often enough to notice a difference in battery life. Guest guest
I saw it too. Don't expect Oprah to be on our side or stand up for the kids in this country. She will be pd. lots of $ from Merck for doing that show. I hope Oprah never wants to send me anywhere or have me on her show because I will just say, " no thanks I don't take blood $. " The school systems are the same way. Protecting teachers instead of the kids. It's a sad system we live in. Guest guest
oprah.com is now displaying a messsage Oprah.com Message Boards Thank you for your interest in the Oprah.com message boards. We know many of you want to talk to McCarthy and Holly Peete. Due to the huge response, our message boards are currently experiencing slowness. We're on it! The boards will be running smoothly again shortly. We appreciate your patience! __________________ Maybe was restricted due to her parental and financial ties? Maybe wasn't supposed to say it and Oprah just let her...kinda like she let slip it in too. Notice she said, it was 's book about 's son and what JENNY thought. Oprah was very careful to not say she felt that way, or that she agreed with . You can tell Oprah is in support though. I think she may have just cracked the wall a little bit that exists between " we that know " and those that are clueless...does that make sense? Guest guest
Did anyone see Oprah today?? It was great-- McCarthy talked about autism, her son, his recovery through biomedical treatments and she even got to say that she believes that it was the MMR vaccine that caused her son to develop autism!!! I was so glad! Finally someone who was allowed to speak their mind!! i knew that oprah would be the one to finally give a voice to the cause. Everyone else is too scared. Anyway, she will be on 20/20, The View, Good Morning America and Larry King Live this week (check my previous post for dates and times). Guest guest
Hello - I did see the Oprah show on autism today 9/18/07 it was awesome! McCarthy talked about her experience with her son whom has autism, & her journey to recovery for her son with diet & Biomedical & early interventions. She had me in tears at times, her experience with her son's autism & her strive to help him recover was moving & uplifting, if anyone missed out on this great show on oprah. Please try to get a copy of the show or hopefully they will rerun it again. McCarthy also has a book out about her son's autism, the book is called Louder Than Words! Guest guest
None of them did, but if you watch the show, you can see that it was almost as if they were not allowed to openly talk about it. said the word " biomedicine " , but didn't define it. Parents with NT children may have no idea what that is (I certainly had no idea before I started this journey 3 years ago). She also said " yeast in the whole body " . Again, without explaining further, about the leaky gut and so forth, it is hard to understand unless you live it. And in order to talk about chelation, you need to talk about heavy metal toxicity, which means that you need to use the " mercury " word more explicitly than just thimerosal, which would probably cause Oprah more problems than what she said yesterday she knows she is getting herself into. However, it was an excellent show. What I liked the most about it is the honestly about how we are treated by the mainstream doctors and schools. We Moms know. And someone needs to start listening. That there is hope. She did not mention a single organization. She only mentioned GF/CF as a biomedical therapy (probably the safest thing to talk about since it is not affiliated with anyone). I heard that her book is more open and honest and I just ordered it via Amazon. I liked how she compared biomedicine with chemotherapy. And how she explained what " recovery " means to her, because I agree with her definition. And that someone out there needs to start listening to us Moms. Change the vaccine schedule. Do more tests. Those out there know exactly what that means: heavy metal toxicity. Excellent way to introduce our world. .
