Guest guest
Hi, I'm new to the group and have never posted before. I need some help with interpreting my test results and figuring out the course of actions. I went to a Naturopathic doctor recently and had multiple tests done (extended blood work and saliva tests). Most of the Thyroid indicators were in normal ranges with the exception of Thyroid Antibodies, which were very high. Thyroglobulin ABS: 674 (normal range <20), Thyroid Peroxidase: 81 (normal range <35) The rest of the normal results: T3, Reverse: 25 (Normal range: 11 - 32), T4 Total: 8.2 (Normal range: 4.5 - 12.5), T3 Uptake: 29.8 (Normal range: 22 - 35%) and TSH: 3.09 (Normal range: 0.40 - 4.50) The ND said that the elevated Thyroid antibodies are an indication of the thyroid autoimmune disorder, which if left untreated may lead to Hypothyroid. She gave me a supplement to take " Thyroid Px Capsules " by WTSmed, 2 capsules a day, which have the following ingredients: Iodine (from Potassium Iodide , Iodine crystals and Diiodotyrosine) : 5,156mg Zinc: 1649mg Selenium: 100mcg and mixture of herbs as blue flag root, guggul gum resin, Ashwagandha root, nettle leaf, bladderwrack thallus, ginger root. I'm wondering if what she recommended is enough or I need to supplement with more Iodine like many of the people on this list do, even though I don't have hypothyroid condition. If I need to supplement more - what dosage should I start with? I don't have any particular symptoms - except sometimes my hands and feet are cold and sometimes I feel tired but nothing extreme. I also have had some ovarian cysts in the past and somewhat fibrocystic breasts, so I think Iodine can help with all of this but I'm not sure what dosage of Iodine is safe? The saliva test showed that I have very low cortisol level throughout the day, which suggests some adrenal problems, which also could be linked to lower Thyroid function. I'm sorry for the lengthy post but I'm really freaked out about my test results as I always was relatively healthy and this is something new for me. I hope somebody can give me a good advice. Thanks for reading, Inna
