Guest guest Posted December 29, 1999 Report Share Posted December 29, 1999 Unfortunately, giardia tests can come up negative even though you have the little buggers -- although I think the blood test is pretty reliable, I know the poo-poo test is not. So you might want to be aware of the symptoms. Most of them are indistinguishable from CFS/M.E., so it's the abnormal bowel movements that would be the key symptom to watch out for. You will get stool that shows evidence of malabsorption in the intestines -- it will be light-colored and slimey and emit an AWFUL odor like nothing you've ever smelled before or hope to smell again. If you have that, then you need to keep pursuing an answer until you get one -- it might be giardia, or it might be something like Crohn's that causes malabsorption.
