Guest guest
Yea! I did 20 minutes on the treadmill plus warm up and cool down. I know I keep saying that but it was more like 30 min. total so I'm going to keep reporting it that way. I walked slower today to keep my heart rate at the same level which was kind of weird. I know I haven't had any sort of training effect on my heart yet. I'm on a med to slow my heart rate as well as lower my bp. Dunno. I'll keep setting my heart rate at 120 on the treadmill. If things seems really weird I'll check in with the cardiologist. A pretty good day. Breakfast yogurt Second breakfast 2 eggs 2 slices whole wheat toast Lunch sandwich with ham, turkey and swiss whole grapefruit Afternoon snack 1/2 huge apple Dinner shrimp, veggie stir fry over white rice Snack smoothie hot vanilla milk deli ham and turkey with mustard and no bread I wanted hot chocolate tonight but the Nesquick syrup we have on hand is too high in calories. I remembered what I used to do when I was on plan. I heated up milk and added a capful of vanilla and some Equal. It's nice on a winter evening. Anyone have recommendations on low cal hot chocolate that doesn't taste like dishwater? I don't drink skim milk because lactose free skim milk is awful. I drink reduced fat. There are only 3 fat levels on lactose free milk, whole, reduced which I think is 2% and skim. Let's see.... I'm really enjoying Fit Day. Total 2003 calories, fat 25%, saturated 9%, carbs 46%, protein 30%, fiber 21 grams. Sounds pretty darn good to me. I could use a little more fiber but an amazing difference over my diet the last year and a half or so. This afternoon I avoided the crash since I was able to lie down for a nap. It sounds like several of us have gotten our exercise in today. Good job ladies! Ann
Guest guest
Great news! Please give Mo a gentle hug or hand squeeze from and me. Gail Day 3 Hi everyone, Just a quick note. We are all still doing pretty good. and are slowly getting better. Mo and I have been able to sleep pretty well which always helps. Today they put her on her home vent with the new lower settings. She is doing good so far with it. They are also removing her arterial line and her foley catheter. They hope to transfer her to 6th floor tomorrow. She will still have the IV and central line in. WOW. It seems sudden, but I'm glad she is doing well. She has been sleeping most of the time, so our goal will be to get her moving more and drinking more, eventually eating. Thanks for all your prayers. I'll send another update tomorrow, or have do one Saturday if we move and tomorrow is busy. We love you all. Bought and ate TWO Dunkin > Donuts bran muffins : ( If you see you need a starchy snack at that time every day, go ahead and plan for it. As you said, the bran muffin itself is a healthy food - it's usually what people put *on* it that makes it unhealthy. Over the weekend, when you have time, make your home made ones - I'm sure they'll be tastier than DD's, too.
Guest guest
Speaking of cravings, Man!! Yesterday i had some mad cravings!! Beleive it or not I was thinking about Thanksgiving dinner. hahaha and a host of other delicious meals my mom is known for preparing. Two Bran muffins and some triscuts aren't so bad. Especially for day two. The important thing is that you learn from that, tell your self i only needed one bran muffin, and next time do just that. In the beginning it takes a little " practice " in chosing the right foods. No one is perfect but we can all learn and make adjustments to our slip ups. Shoot I still find myself needing adjustments, but I just take note and move on. One of my biggest adjustments that i really need to work on is only eatting one black bean and rice burrito. BTW, these are great and good for you if you don't over do it. Anyways I'm sure you are doing great!! > Hi All: > Day 2 was not as successful as Day 1. Guest guest
Makenna, Good for you in getting to the gym today, ours opened at 8 and I had a great workout, it was packed by 9:00, I couldn't believe it! There's an article on doing abs on the bodyforlife website today so that might answer some of your questions. Also, as far as what is heavy? Don't try to compare yourself to anyone else except your previous best. There are many reasons why we all lift different weights but the most important thing is that you keep pushing and challenging yourself. Comparing can make you feel like you're not doing enough, or if you're lifting pretty heavy you may think that's enough and stop pushing yourself. Why is the guestbook not working? I miss it! I weighed myself for the first time yesterday, I'm in the middle of week 3, and have lost 5 pounds. That's awesome since my goal for the whole challenge is 10!! BUt even if I hadn't lost any weight on the scale I know some fat must be gone b/c I'm sure to be gaining muscle. And losing just 1 pound of that ugly, yellow, jiggly fat like in the picture is a huge accomplishment I think! So remember when the scale doesn't move much that even losing a little of that fat is a great thing!!! Have a great thanksgiving everyone! heather --------------------------------- Music Unlimited - Access over 1 million songs. Try it free. Guest guest
Happy Thanksgiving Makenna, I noticed you stated that you did your lower body workout after an aerobic workout. You will have a more intense LBWO if you do it first. I am speaking from experience, I have tried it both ways. I also get better results. Lucky you my gym is closed on holidays, and I hate it. I have plenty of time today to workout, so I will go for a run I love a good sore after a great workout!! Pam. Makenna <justmakenna@...> wrote: Yikes... Got to the gym this am at 7;00 so I could get a workout in before the Thanksgiving rush. The place was all mine for some reason! Did a lower body workout (after an aerobic workout yesterday), and it went very well. I felt very motivated. One question I had was about crunches. How do you count them for doing the 12/10/8//12/12 thing? Also, where can I find some statistics about what the average BFL woman can lift? Is 315 on the leg press a lot (for my highest intensity level)? Just wondering... I am soooo sore from Tuesdays's upper body. Wow...I'm not sure if I want to hurt so much all the time. I didn't hurt so much at all yesterday, but today,...YIKES...I guess on Saturday, I'll feel todays LB workout. I'm so psyched to be finally doing something like this! Have a wonderful Thanksgiving everyone! Makenna
Guest guest
You can increase intensity on the ab sets by slowing them down a little each time and/or holding it at the top of the movement. Like, for crunches do: 12 reps at a normal pace 10 reps even slower 8 reps slower still 6 reps maybe holding the crunch for a full 5 seconds at the top 12 reps of the original exercise, normal speed 12 reps of a different exercise You can also use weight. I grab a plate, dumbbell or medicine ball and hold it across my chest for crunches. You can hold a dumbbell between your feet (or medicine ball between your knees) for hanging abs or knee-ups, or move the pin on the weight stack for cable crunches. Everybody is different on the amount of weight they lift. Don't compare yourself to other people, compare yourself to your last workout. Ask things like - Is it challenging? Can I do more? Is my form still good? Are the last few reps really hard? Use questions like that to determine whether you're lifting enough. Guest guest
Good girl Connie!!!! I think I'll go upstairs and do some LL with my ball too. Love, Liz --- Today I did life lift tape #1 and my ball and ball tape with Life lift breaths (thank you for that idea Liz). I ate no funky foods. I will do my reflexolxogy and yoga before bed. Guest guest
I made it through day 3 pretty well. I did eat some eggs and oats for breakfast, so I felt fuller. I ate a banana and a few almonds for my snack Lunch was spinach, a little meat and a few sweet potato chips. I had yogurt for my afternoon snack. I had a big salad and some meat for dinner. I didn't actualy want a snack after dinner, but I had a few walnuts anyway. How did everyone else do today? I'm looking for ways to vary my foods so I'm anxious to hear what you are eating. I'd love to find some good smoked salmon. -- www.bigpondaussies.com
