Guest guest
Just curious how everyone feels about this: , daughter of Bob & Suzanne ,recently appeared with Kirby, author of Evidence of Harm, todiscuss biomedical interventions, mercury toxicity and the like. (http://www.autismmedia.org/media15.html) Whether or not you embracebiomedical interventions is moot, this statement from Autism Speaks left us flabbergasted. Apparently their own daughter isn't permittedto speak on behalf of Autism Speaks. We are very interested in howyou feel about this -- let us know how you feel at info@...!Statement from Bob and Suzanne , Co-founders of Autism Speaks http://www.autismspeaks.org/wrights_statement.php is not a spokesperson for Autism Speaks. Our daughter'spersonal views differ from ours and do not represent or reflect theongoing mission of Autism Speaks. Her appearance with Kirby was done without the knowledge or consent of Autism Speaks.Autism Speaks is committed to finding the causes of and a cure forautism. We are proud of our scientifically based research programs, including those established by NAAR and CAN, and will continue to pursue them. The members of our scientific advisory teams haveimpeccable credentials and we fully support them. There is noquestion that genetics plays the leading role in autism and thatenvironmental triggers are key issues for many children. These areas, as well as biomedical treatments, need huge research support.Autism Speaks merged with NAAR because it believes in and supportsits scientific mission, methods, and advisory board. We are proud ofthe accomplishments of NAAR and grateful to the families and volunteers who created it. They are a tremendously valued part ofAutism Speaks. We welcome input from volunteers and parents/guardiansof children with autism of all ages, including adults with autism. Weapologize to our valued volunteers who were led to believe otherwise by our daughter's statement.-- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------AutismLink -- Information and Support for Autism Spectrum DisorderContribute to AutismLink the United Way -- #1382643 Our new facility, the Autism Center of Pittsburgh, offers evaluations, occupational therapy, speech therapy, support and more!
