Voice getting worse (can't sing any more) and still putting on weight

I was first diagnosed with hypothyroidism about 2 years ago. TSH

came back as 44.8 but I had been putting on weight and losing my

singing voice for a year or two before but had no idea what the

problem was.

Doc put me on 25mcg of thyroxine and was reluctant to increase the

dose but I argued until I got him to increase to 100mcg over a

period of 12 months.

I still have symptoms, hoarse voice, weight gain, depression but the

doctor implied that I'm going round the bend and offered anti

depressants (all because the tsh level was down to 3.5 so I must be

OK).

It doesn't help that I am going through the menopause as well, lots

of hot flushes but I have decided to finally go on HRT as I can't

take 3 hot flushes every hour any more. The HRT is helping that area

but my last blood test showed a TSH of 12.2 and I still have the

croaky voice

(I couldn't scream if my life depended on it)and the weight is still

going up.

Now, in desperation I decided to try Armour Thyroid as my doctor has

no suggestions (not even to increase the thyroxine which I'm not

sure

would help anyway). I have been monitoring my basal temp and it

moves between 35.8 c to 36.5 c with a pulse rate of 55 - 60 so I

think I still have the slow metabolism and hypothyroid problem.

The thing is now, I'm not sure how much armour to take and I'm not

sure what the doctor will say if he finds out.

Has anyone else had a problem with singing voice and is there any

hope that it might come back or that weight might reduce if I stick

to the armour. I am taking 2 x 30g tablets but thinking of

increasing.

Any comments would be appreciated.
