Guest guest
Hello Bob Just out of interest how much thyroxine does your wife now take along with the HC? Dr P seems to think my fast, hard heart beat last night was a sign of too much T4, I have been on 75mcg for 9 days and previous to that 50mcg for a week, my pulse has risen slightly and like I have said I am aware of my heart beat sometimes but have had no other signs of going hyper apart from maybe the anxiety? I really dont know if to stick it out and see if it settles or reduce back to 50mcg. I realise the cortisone is doing its job so I wont need as much T4. Another thought is that maybe taking it at night is wrong for me so am going back to taking it in the mornings but at 75mcg or 50mcg, I seem thing things may settle as the dose stabalizes
Guest guest
I think maybe I will drop to 50mcg, my heart is beating faster, I can feel it now while sitting and here was me thinking I need more, how confusing this all is, I wont take any tonight and start 50 in the morning I think, the faster heart beat is only adding to the anxiety--- On Wed, 17/9/08, xxsarahxx_40 <xxsarahxx_40@...> Hello BobJust out of interest how much thyroxine does your wife now take along with the HC? Guest guest
Hi Lilian, I wonder if Chuck might be able to get a copy for us? It's one of those papers without an abstract and we can't read it without paying a fee. I cannot possibly do that for the number of papers I scan or read. I've been waiting some time to see that particular one, myself. It may be 'released' after 6-12mths. best wishes Bob > > Hi Bob, > > You have put in the files " Thyroid Replacement Might Not Be Enough........ " but I cannot read it. Guest guest
Hi Lilian, I'm also trying to dream up ways to make the information easier to access. Sheila suggested we use the Links more often ~ which I now do. Using folders may be helpful in some respects, but I tend to think the more that is directly visible, the better....long titles are also a bit unwieldy....trying to balance informative content with brevity is always a nightmare ? Guest guest
Thanks Bob. As it seems to be new I wondered whether my endo would have seen it. I am due to see him in December and would like to discuss it with him - if it is appropriate to me. Guest guest
I tried to access this article through uni login but it won't let me see articles less than one year old. However when you try to access the article, it comes up with this 'patient access' information (see below). Perhaps if you try to email the guy below, he might send you a 'patient copy'. Incidentally the article is just an editorial (not a piece of research) however as it's published in the same issue as the recent Colin Dayan article, I imagine that it is talking about Dayan et al's 2009 paper on genes and the need for T3 - which you can find an abstract of online to show your endo. PS the info you need to send is..... W. Kim and C. Bianco EDITORIAL:For Some, L-Thyroxine Replacement Might Not Be Enough: A Genetic Rationale J Clin Endocrinol Metab 2009 94: 1521-1523 doi:10.1210/jc.2009-0410 .................................. Thanks, but since that is an editorial, rather than a paper, there is no abstract. The full text is quite controlled, and our library subscription to that journal expired last April. I could get it only by paying a fee, and then it would be illegal to share with the list. Sorry. Chuck
Guest guest
Hi Chuck, many thanks, I tracked down the possible reason that Kim and Bianco were editorialising:- http://jcem.endojournals.org/cgi/content/abstract/94/9/3521 Thyroid hormone-related regulation of gene expression in human fatty liver Jussi Pihlajamäki, Tanner Boes, Eun-Young Kim, Farrell Dearie, W. Kim, Schroeder, Mun, Imad Nasser, J. Park, C. Bianco, B. Goldfine and Patti and also:- W. Visser, A. Heemstra, Sigrid M. A. Swagemakers, Zeliha Özgür, Eleonora P. Corssmit, us Burggraaf, Wilfred F.
