Guest guest
There was an article in our newspaper today from the Associated Press. It covers a bit more than the Reuters article and is in much better taste. No suffering. They talk about people with Down Syndrome. does not suffer with it either. We don't even think about it that much. Jessie
Guest guest
Well, the article has been picked up by others than Reuters. It's clear that Reuters needs some sensitivity training. In spite of it all, my child (and probably yours) don't suffer .. they just have down syndrome. As to the elevated risk of leukemia, that is a double edge sword. Our kids/adults are more likely to have leukemia. The other edge is that they more often end up in long term remission. Since the study focused on 'death certificates', it isn't clear that it reflects the occurrance of leukemia. At the moment I'm far too close to look at probabilities. In my mind, you've got leukemia or you haven't (yes there are some pre-leukemia states that are better than real leukemia). Today we were in for a platelette transfusion. It was supposed to take an hour, but it took four. Still, we are hoping that after a few more round of chemo, Jan will end up in remission. Her statistics aren't as clear as those for a 3-6 year old with AML (her disease) where the outlook is very positive. And when she achieves remission, we haven't a clue what it means. Is it 3 months or 30 years? Still, there is the last ditch of bone marrow transplant which is very risky and offers the possibility of a cure. Guest guest
Where did you hear this? My son went to camp there over the summer and we were hoping he could attend again this summer. Thanks. > > > > Is anyone on the list using Lifespan Learning Communities as their > > child's primary school under the asutim scholarship program? > > > > Thanks, > > > > Beth > > >
