A happy note... and a trip to Cedar Point

So I just wanted to share a happy event in our lives..

Last weekend was my husband's company picnic at Cedar Point.

Normally we get a sitter for Kiernan and off we go with my daughter to

wander Camp Snoopy.. This year we decided to take a chance and take

Kiernan with us... it was a tough decision because towards the end of

the school year we had some major regression partly because of a

medication issue and partly because of his 1 on 1 aide in his class

became very negative and we found was taking away his sensory diet as

punishment when he was acting out when he needed it the most... but

anyway.. after working with him the last month and a half.. attending

MEEC, and adjusting his meds with his psychiatrist.. he is doing

wonderfully.. way better than he was even before the regression.

So upon getting to Cedar Point we went to their guest services

building and got the kids their kid link bracelets where they put our

cell # on it in case the kids got separated.. then we asked them about

services for Kiernan since he has Autism. Suddenly we were handed a

pamphlet and a form and told to show it at the rides so that we can

bypass lines if they were to long.. Kiernan did so well!!! We only

had one meltdown and that was because he was too short and his mom is

too scared to go on the big rollercoasters.. that child has no fear I

swear! He went on a ton of rides.. and we only used the pass on 3 of

them.. if there was only a 10-15 minute wait I made him wait.. telling

him if he wanted to ride the ride he had to wait nicely like a big

boy... he would tell me.. yes, I ride on the ride like a big boy and

stand as patiently as he could until I had to remind him again.. but

no meltdowns!

It was an absolutely lovely day.. stress free.. and 2 very happy

children.. and not nearly the nightmare that we were prepared for..

guess it's that expect the worst and hope for the best mentality that

I was raised with.

Ok.. done sharing.. I hope this finds everyone well!
