Guest guest
Hi, I know that I have low thyroid as I am on Synthroid. I want to get my system more healthy and wean from that or change to bio-identical. In the meantime, I have been having a lot of post-nasal dripping. I am taking 12.5 mg of iodoral since one week, high quality multivitamin, magnesium, selenium, and started the salt 2 days ago. Can the dripping be some kind of dumping toxins??? or it could be allergies??? Also, I am getting some extra breakout on my body, sort of like acne but one was bigger. I slathered it with Betadine... Thanks,
Guest guest
your dose of iodine is very low. you will need a therapeutic dose of iodine. like 50mg, but you could still have detox symptoms on the higher dose. Guest guest
Yes, the combination of breakout and nasal congestion at the same time, probably de-tox. Want/need to know for sure; stop detox. If symptoms go away, and return when you resume, thats pretty certain. Also, just some terminology; Synthroid is usually referred to as " Synthcrap " . Endo's are 'Endholes', and its not bioidentical, its called " NTH " , for Natural Thyroid Hormone. Also referred to as Dessicated Porcine Thyroid, or Armour.Armour because they were the first company to produce it, and so the name stuck, like the way some people called refrigerators " Kelvinator's " , because it was the first company to make them.So Armour can refer both to the actual product, and to similar products made by other companies.Actually, several companies in the U.S went thru a 'reformulation' craze in the last couple of years. Remember " New Coke " , or was it " New Pepsi " ? Anyway, most are unhappy with the reformulated.Thiroid-S is an excellent product, made by a family owned business in Thailand for over 40 years. Oh, while this is not my 'area of expertise', I believe there is no 'tapering off' synthcrap. You just stop taking it, and start taking the NTH. However,... Many who have been on synthcrap for years, are basically in the same boat as those who are undiagnosed and therefore untreated.Due to inadequate levels of useful thyroid hormones, the body demands the adrenal glands 'take up the slack'. So, you may be adrenally fatigued, and need to address this before or while beginning the transition to NTH. Jim > > > > Hi, > > I know that I have low thyroid as I am on Synthroid. Guest guest
Thanks, I am surely adrenal fatigued as well due to low thyroid for some years, marriage stress, and living with a child in chronic pain (who also is adrenal fatigued and low thyroid!!!) so I am reading the adrenal group and ordered some books. So I will be looking at adding the adrenal support now with the Iodoral and supplements I have started. My daughter's alternative doctor started her on that after an adrenal panel came back. Her body is all messed up with her cortisol soaring at night, and low in the morning... and meds for pain. I get the not weaning off of synthroid idea. I will do this soon as I get the supplies and knowledge under my belt. On 2/2/2011 12:48 PM, dutchdivco wrote: Yes, the combination of breakout and nasal congestion at the same time, probably de-tox. I, however, would NOT recommend waiting for any reason to switch to NTH from Synthroid or other levoxothyrine (sp?) generic. The adrenals aren't going to heal as long as the thyroid isn't properly treated. I resisted taking NTH for years because I didn't want to take a lifelong medicine that was made from animals. However, the difference in my health, in my productivity and capacity, has been a massive improvement. For the first time since diagnosis and treatment, I felt like my energy was coming from within myself again, instead of outside myself. -- ~~~ There is no way to peace; peace is the way ~~~~ --A.J.
