Craving Salt could be adrenal issue

I read tonight that people who crave salt could be suffering from

adrenal issues. Well, I have been craving salt for as long as I have

been married. I love salt. I especially enjoy the Celtic Sea Salt and

water cocktails. Yummm. That there is also a real lag in energy

around 2-4 pm (I still experience this) and then more energy aft 6pm.

Yes to that, as well.

That in general, they are tired by 9 pm and in bed by 11. Well I have

that beat - I am in bed by 10 pm and everyone else too because by now I

need total quiet! These types require less carbs and more protein, as

well. That would have been nice to know awhile ago. I did bring these

symptoms to my doctor, who was also treating me for excessive pms and

bleeding - due to uterine fibroids. I was severely anemic, too.

Nothing was done.

I am now wondering if there is an iodine protocol for hypo *which I

believe I am, AND adrenal issues? I don't remember reading anything

concerning hypo and adrenal? Or is adrenal totally separate? I am on

the two tabs of Iodoral but I am willing to ramp it up quickly to see if

I get relief. I have felt so bad for so long. Thank you for any

suggestions

" Well, I have been craving salt for as long as I have

> been married. " Well, obviously your hubby is just too sweet!

Sorry, couldn't resist.

Adrenals produce Cortisol AND Aldosterone. Some who are adrenally fatigued are

only low in Cortisol, some are low in both. Therefore, symptoms vary depending on

what your lacking, and there is some cross-over.

Salt craving is usually low aldosterone.Do you have to pee every hour or so, and

get up 3 or more times a night to pee? If so, take the " Pupil test " . Take a

flashlight, and mirror and go into a dark room.Allow 2+ minutes, so your eyes

can adjust to the darkness. Then, holding the mirror in front of your face, so

you can see your pupils responce, shine the flashlight, from the side, at your

face/eyes. Don't have to do it like a traffic cop, you just need to shine it so

as to trigger a pupil reaction.BTW, another symptom is eye sensitivity to bright

light, like sunlight. Anyway, negative or normal responce; Pupils are dialated,

(Big) initially, because of having adjusted to the darkness.Within seconds of

the light coming on, they should react by constricting, (getting small) and they

should stay that way. Holding the light steady, they should stay constricted for

1 min.

A 'Positive' responce, indicating low aldosterone; They constrict initially,

when the light is turned on, but can't 'hold' it, and dialate after 5 seconds or

so, then try to constrict,...can't hold it.Kind of a wavering responce. This is a

conclusive sign that you are low in aldosterone, and probably adrenally

fatigued.

" I have felt so bad for so long. " If you are truly sick and tired of being sick

and tired, you may want to consider the following;

Just my opinion; I am not sure that people with a certain severity of AF and

Hypo can be healed with just iodine. And, even if they can, I think it may take

longer than if they use hormone supplementation to speed the process along.BTW,

if you do have a 'positive' reaction to the pupil test, ask your Dr. to perform

the test, and explain the result. The only medical explanation; low aldosterone.

Well, he's something! lol.

Thank you so much Jim. YES, about the peeing. UNREAL. I just

attributed it to flobby uterus filled with fibroids. But I KNOW they

have shrunk. I just thought well, this is what happens after 35. *cough

*cough. My walking regimen at the community center is always being

interrupted for potty breaks. This is all making sense. I told my

doctor. Now looking back I can truthfully say she's not a very good

doctor. Not at all. I can't seem, to find any. How %itchy does one

need to get with them. The gloves are off. Should I feel sorry for the

endo I am seeing in a couple weeks?

I did find one that " seemed " promising for my daughter. Maybe I will

make an appt with him and DEMAND very strongly to get to the bottom of

all these unexplained issues. Although, couldn't I just order the tests

myself and treat somehow? Do I really need another bad doctor?

Thanks again. :)
