Guest guest
Hi , You're doing well with the English. What's your first language? I have Hashimoto's and I am taking Iodoral which is iodine and iodide (two different and important forms) together. Some researchers say iodine raises the anti-bodies and some say just the opposite. It's quite a project to read all the articles and decide what to do. There is a link on this site to a Hashimoto's and Iodine article but I can never find it when I want it. I hope one of the moderators will direct you to it. The iodine you can usually take any time except that yours has Magnesium in it which can interfere with ERFA absorption so why not take your iodine at night? Magnesium is a muscle relaxer which is why I take it at night myself. Not sure why your doctor wants you to take the iodine before noon. You might want to look at the articles under " links " and " files " over there on the left of this site. They explain why it's important to take iodine and iodide, not just iodine. > > Hello, > > I'm new here. I have Hashimoto and my dr. Put me on Erfa and iodine 225µg per day. My iodine levels in urine are : 83µg/24h.It has to be equal or superior to 100µg/L or 787nmol/L. > > I have to eat every day fish too. But I also take Erfa at 7 AM and I'm wondering if it can interferate. I know that I have yo wait 4 hours between Erfa and Iron and Calcium but I don't konw about taking Erfa and Iodine...Should I wait several housr between Erfa and Iodine? In this Iodine supplements also contain potassium, L-thyrosin 500mg, silicium, magnesium starate. > > Thank you for explaining me. > Sorry for my English, > > >
Guest guest
Taking iodine at night isn't always a good idea. It can interefere with sleep. I take mine in the morning. I was putting iodine on a couple of spots topically at night though, and it did seem to interefere with my already troubled sleep. So I stopped. Jaye > > > > Hello, > > > > I'm new here. Guest guest
Jaye is right that the iodine should be taken before 2pm or it could interfere with settling down to sleep. Magnesium can be taken anytime. I take ERFA or armour thyroid about a half hour off the iodine with no problems. I actually am trying to reduce my dose after 3 years on iodine. Seems like I may need less from one dr said looking at last results. I have 3 doctors and of course they each have different opinions looking at same results. Guest guest
You should take iodine with food. It can irritate the stomach. Guest guest
Yes, I have heard this, as well. Don't want Calcium, or calcium containing foods, such as milk or cheese, in the stomach at the same time as the ERFA, or it can interfere with the absorbtion. One way around this; 'dissolve' the ERFA under your toungue. It is absorbed sublingually. Its not a matter of the calcium not being in your system, just not having the 2 in your stomach/digestive system at the same time.Sublingual aviods the problem.Jim > > > > > > > Hello, > > > > I'm new here. Guest guest
The prevailing wisdom here is that you will always need to take SOME iodine, because you will continue to be exposed to toxic halogens. And from what I have seen on this list, most people take more than 3 months to achieve saturation. I think you might want to start taking a longer view.AnneOn Feb 7, 2011, at 2:40 AM, wrote: Thank you , My dr prescribed me iodine for 3 months. Guest guest
Anne, Very interesting. I was sensing that I was still getting increasing benefits from Iodoral even after a month. This gives me something to think about as far as how often I want to increase my dose. I'm extremely sensitive to medications and supplements so I may take a longer view and a longer time to build up my dose. I like your " longer view " ; it is so often what is called for here with these types of issues. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Hello, > > > > > > > > > > > > > > I'm new here.
