Guest guest
Hi Terri, I saved your message you wrote to me weeks ago, wondering what to say. Sorry I didn't reply sooner. I know hearing that Wyatt's spine is not as stable as you'd like it is hard to hear. He is so young to be dealing with this. I would hope you can get yet another opinion from someone who has experience treating kids like Wyatt. Mr. Pond is not an orthopod, he is an orthotist. Big difference. Wyatt (IMHO) needs to see a pediatric orthopedist who has extensive experience with this stuff. If you are willing to travel, I think that will be your best bet. I'll write you privately with more of my rambling thoughts in detail. Take care and good luck! Guest guest
Isn't Mike Pond the orthotist who makes the braces? I don't believe he is a doctor. I would get an opinion from another orthopedist. Noelle (12-2-01) Ian (8-15-04) so confused Hi everyone! Well once again we are confused about Wyatt. We went to slc, the clinic here in phoenix and seen Dr. Pond. He mad us feel better and agreed with everything our local doctor did. only wondered why he keep Wyatt in a TLSO. Said that wasn't common after fusion surgery. Told me Wyatt could stay out of the TLSO and really would have to wait for his next big growth to see what was going to happen, because Wyatt's spine is so complex compared to most. Yesterday we went back to our local dr. and he said his curve under the area that was fused got 5 degrees worse and that Wyatt HAS to stay in a TLSO or we'll have to do surgery again. Never said anything about the problem with the rib area or the hips that slc had seen 2 weeks earlier. I'm guessing an opinion from a 3rd, not sure anymore!! Just wondering if this sounds like anyone else??? Terri

Guest guest
Hi again, Terri, IMHO, I think you should make an appointment to GO TO SLC! Bypass the satellite facility in Phoenix. You need to go to the source so you can get better information. Also, it wouldn't hurt to make the trip to SLC doubly worth it - make an appointment to see Dr. at PCMC while you are here. Two more opinions won't hurt at all. Dr. works closely with Dr. D'Astous. They will be able to give you better answers than Mike Pond. (Sad that he mislead you to think he was a real doctor... does this happen regularly with him?) Guest guest
Hi Terri I'm so glad that you have received advice from Carmell and Shellie - Please try and see Dr D'Astous - Mike Pond isn't a doctor nor an Orthotist. He is an Assistant. He helps with casting - And that's it (or it should be!). He told me that he would have my daughter " cured " . I KNEW that with her Marfan syndrome there was no " cure " to her scoliosis. I could RANT, I'm so mad - I hope you get the right advice for Wyatt as soon as possible!!! If you have insurance to visit Primary Children's in SLC, then as Carmell suggests, try and get an opinion from Dr . Both Dr D'Astous and Dr are fantastic - And have the knowledge and experience to treat Wyatt. Good luck. Jacki > Isn't Mike Pond the orthotist who makes the braces? I don't believe he is a doctor. Guest guest
The only thing I can think of is that they thought you had issues with his brace and didn't realize exactly what you wanted to be seen for???? Strange. Try to call back there and get an appt. with Dr. D'Astous. Noelle (12-2-01) Ian (8-15-04) so confused Hi everyone! Well once again we are confused about Wyatt. Guest guest
Hi Terry, Wow sounds like some complex issues with Wyatt. I know Mike Pond sounds very confident and convincing but isn't he a physicians assistant rather than a doc. I know I asked him particularly the first time we were in Salt Lake because we don't have that position in Australia and I was confused. Is there someone with heaps of experience with kids with complex spinal issues that you can talk to? My understanding is that any xray measurement is +or - 5 degrees so has he really gotten worse or does it depend who measures him. I know a little girl here in Aus who was fused and she wore a brace for 6 months after surgery to protect the fusion while it healed and " took, " is that possibly what is happening with Wyatt. I would write down my list of questions and go back to where you had the surgery. Good luck Bert terrilin_1999 <terrilin_1999@...> wrote: Hi everyone! Well once again we are confused about Wyatt. Guest guest
Holly, there are a lot of people finding success with the dehumidifiers. It might be something to look into. Also you ask about the dawn dish soap. We used the dawn to wash our bodies with because it removes all the oil from the skin so that the salt or Clorox or olive oil can get right on the darn bugs, sores, etc. It would get our skin very clean and ready to put the healing solutions on. How's that baby doing? Rita So confused My dad sent me $500 last week to buy supplies to fight this. I spent $160 on ivermectin and permetherin. I spent the rest on things like mattress covers, pillow covers, bleach, ammonia, listerine, windex, borax, trash bags, shampoos...it all adds up so fast. Now i am reading about dehumidifiers, and am wondering if i should have invested in one of those instead. I have a newborn, and would rather not be spraying chemicals. Are dehumidifiers really working? Along with what else?
Guest guest
Hi Holly, This ordeal is sadly very costly for us all in more ways than one. The good news is that this group here is very helpful, informative and you can get some great ideas as well. Rita and Jeff are right, the dehumidifier does help a lot because these mites or whatever they are don't like the extreme dryness. With your little one, that might be one non-toxic way to fight these things. I just purchased a small one at Home Depot and I have already noticed a difference in my condo. I don't know if you live in a humid area or not but I live in Southern California and we have problems with mold as well so the dehumidifer helps with that, too. Best of luck to you. Guest guest
Hi Holly! After trying so many different things for 2 months, I am going for the humidifier. I can't afford it but at this point, I just don't care. I've already spent so much, as you have. I live in Colorado so I was hoping the lack of humidity here would kill the mites off, but it hasn't. Someone suggested the one at Costco which runs about $200. The good thing about buying it through Costco.com is that with a receipt they take anything back that breaks (at least currently they do). Best wishes for you and your family to be mite-free. Guest guest
Holly Run a good dehumidifier and defusser with menthol man, you'd be surprised how low the mite count drops! If they weren't internal and just in my environment I think id be mite free. I been using the esp soap, lotion, body oil, and insect spray. Really notice a whole lot of grains and things coming up to surface of skin. Mind you I have cataracts can't tell if there 'black specks' but feels like grains a salt coming out the skin. Were you get your ivermectin? On Tue, 23 Sep 2008 7:26 pm, Holly wrote: > My dad sent me $500 last week to buy supplies to fight this. I spent > $160 on ivermectin and permetherin. Guest guest
Good news!! My mom lives in Austin and they have many dehumidifiers on craigslist for cheap!! She said she will buy one for me and send it up!! I am not running central air at this time, and my house always seems humid between laundry, dishes and showers. I am just going to throw everything i have at them. It HAS to work!! Thanks for everyones help. Adam, i bought the ivermectin at magicpharma.com I wanted to try permetherin because of what everyone said about it on the scabies forum. I still dont know what i have. Everyones stories are so different. I am just going to try a little bit and see if it helps. > > My dad sent me $500 last week to buy supplies to fight this. Guest guest
Holly, The permethrin 5% is just another tool that I have added to my arsenal. My derm gave me 5 refills of 60g and said use it every 3/4 days as my skin can tolerate to help break the mites cycle. I haven't used it religously but it does help me when I do. bob > > > My dad sent me $500 last week to buy supplies to fight this. I > spent > > > $160 on ivermectin and permetherin. Guest guest
I'm so there!!! Got my new 30 pint and 45 pint units cranked up to the max. Started at 56 percent (bought the separate digital hygrometers)!!! No wonder the mites were lovin' it here!!! Down in the low 40's in my bigger room, high 30's in the other one. Took excellent advice here and took a " navy " shower (turned on, off, soaped up, on to rinse, out) and ran the exhaust fan till the whole shower area was dry. Fortunately one of the first things I did here when moved in was put in a killer fan. Just hadn't been using it enough! Thanks to all, esp to Jeff, Adam, miteyman, trly, frito, where do I stop? You have collectively saved my life and there is, finally, a light at the end of the tunnel. BTW have been considering sulfur/vaseline to remove from skin. Is there anything kinder gentler than that or epsom clorox? It's tough to go to work with salt falling out of my pants! That was the only day I did that... Pretty funny, really, but no way to explain it!!! katiejill (livingwithcritters) > > > > > > > > Holly, there are a lot of people finding success with the > > > dehumidifiers. Guest guest
You want to extract them from skin use tea tree tooth paste, it has sulfur and the smell of tea tree to give a repellent smell. I been using this on my body when I go out in public and use the esp new hope products aswell, I've had great results before without using the esp and even better with using both!. Here's the ingredients to read for yourself; INGREDIENTS: Calcium Carbonate, Purified Water, Sorbitol, Glycerin, Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, Flavor, Carageenan Gum, Tea Tree (Melaleuca alternifolia) Oil, Chlorophyll. Guest guest
Hi Holly, Can i ask u what are your symptoms??I am really confused too about what i have, i had birdmite in the other appt, here some things look like that but are bigger, we also found what look like lices on the floor and two days ago, on me, i picked it up from my back! It was red in color but a small long shape, so i don't think it was a bird mite. And i don't think it is a collembolla, it reazlly look like a lice! I have never read that scabies and or lices does a biting and stinig sensation/crawling...Did u??Did u read that and Is it your symptoms??I can not see the mites too, but i know it is hard!I am supposing i have bird mite and lices! ;SSS as crazy as it is! My man doesn't feel any of both.So i try to treat for both! But i wonder too if i should try permetrin. But i am afraid cause i just exterminated with permetrin too!!! I just arrived in my house now. I am not running central air at this time, and my house always seems humid between laundry, dishes and showers. I am just going to throw everything i have at them. It HAS to work!! Thanks for everyones help. Adam, i bought the ivermectin at magicpharma. com I wanted to try permetherin because of what everyone said about it on the scabies forum. I still dont know what i have. Everyones stories are so different. I am just going to try a little bit and see if it helps. > > My dad sent me $500 last week to buy supplies to fight this. Guest guest
You're welcome, rub a good layer before bed and before heading out, carry a tube with you to add to face and arms. That's how I been doing it, gives a relief and cuts them down in your area. Me I have them internally in my respitory so when im sitting in one spot and being swarmed this has helped me tremendously. Guest guest
I like that a lot, Adam, thanks so much, always on the search, huh? Great web scouting. so, now got the ESP on my shopping list as well and try to use up all the g'zillion and very costly bottles and jars already accumulated , I might just toss a few things, want to travel lightly and stay clutter free. Dehumidifier full blast 24/7, not doing well with the epsom/clorox spray, it reeks up the hallway (neighbors way too close for comfort in this high rise ) and the stuff makes me sick. Now, been debating to share this with all, but yesterday I got the ultimate humbling instance, this cool dude rode up with me in the elevator and mumbled more to himself " smells like a toilet in here'....he was not refering to certain toilet smells per se, but to the heavily sprayed tote with clorox, previously laced with mothballs, tto etc... That did it for me, this woman used to go to high end hair salons, etc....always smelling good in the past , dressing nicely, now this.....no more leper /pauper existence for me, as soon as I move again this weekend, going more minimalist each time, I WILL GO ALL NATURAL in my combat mode, it will be a gentler war this time, I believe it works, already tested it, can hardly wait for my New Hope kit to arrive to smell good and have stuff oozing out of me. I also take my claritin again, after re-reading the report about the 18/20 collembola victims in the study in Oklahoma. Along with my MSM caps. BTW. when you guys describe your 'exiting of those things'. which makes me wanna barf sometimes just reading it and wondering if I will experience the same fate, though ultra ready for whatever as long it is OUT OF ME> Thanks so much to all.... That Trisha is allright, studied her whole website..
