Guest guest
Possibly your cortisol is high at night? Then you don't sleep, and you feel like crappola during the day. If it's that, I have mucho experience with it. I get up and eat, or take Seriphos, or use Rescue Sleep remedy, or do all three. There's always melatonin, too. As for why your adrenals would be acting up now, I don't know. I'm no iodine expert. > > Hello, > > I'm trying to figure out what's going on with my sleep and energy. I increased Iodoral from 12.5 mg to 25 mg and got way too energetic and started losing sleep and then I had a " crash " day with zero energy. I was taking it in the evening so I switched it to the mornings. > > It's been a week since I switched to mornings and I'm still having the sleepless nights as well as what feels a lot like adrenal woes, as in extreme fatigue and what I call a decrease in " coping juice " as well as mood, and then two " crash " days. > > Perhaps it's still too soon to tell, maybe I increased activities too much when I was feeling better with more energy and that crashed me or could it have something to do with the increase (but only to 25 mg) of Iodoral? I am taking all the companion supplements at recommended dosages. The cluster of symptoms I'm having reminds me of what happens when I raise desiccated thyroid too high in the face of troubled adrenals. > > Thoughts? > > Thanks, > > >
Guest guest
here, following up. I dropped back to 12.5 mg Iodoral after being at the 25 for a week and having many, many symptoms just like stressed out adrenals when raising thyroid. Within one day I felt fine, resting heart rate back to 60 (from a high of 120), slept through the night, able to cope, hot flashes and trembling gone, anxiety gone, etc. What a ride! Think I'll just stay here at 12.5. But--was it the adrenals or does Iodine detox feel just like fatigued adrenals getting too much thyroid medication, ie, like hyperthyroid symptoms? > > Hello, > > I'm trying to figure out what's going on with my sleep and energy. Guest guest
From what I have read, iodine causes detox, which can stress the adrenals, so working on the adrenals and detox pathways should help. > > > > Hello, > > > > I'm trying to figure out what's going on with my sleep and energy. Guest guest
Already doing both (HC for adrenals, all the supplements for the protocol are on board at proper dosages)--other suggestions for detox pathways? > > > > > > Hello, > > > > > > I'm trying to figure out what's going on with my sleep and energy. Guest guest
Steph, That's what I'm really curious to know. It would be nice to know conclusively. If that's the case, would you suggest that I get adrenals and thyroid all balanced out first before proceeding to up the Iodine dose? I am not balanced with thyroid yet--I'm only on 1.5 NT without a thyroid, temps are low, have hypo symptoms, free T3 and free T4 lower than the optimal--and my temps are not stabilized even though I've been on the HC for a couple of months (though I've been changing things a lot that impact temperature). What would you suggest as far as how to proceed and in what order? Thanks! > > > > Hello, > > > > I'm trying to figure out what's going on with my sleep and energy. Guest guest
here with more follow-up and questions for . This is making me nuts! So. After I went back down to the 12.5 mg from 50, and felt better for one or two days I decided to stop doing aerobic exercise and my average daily temps stabilized for five days--first time ever. But. At the same time I was still feeling that I was taking a nose-dive as far as many of the symptoms I was having. Couldn't figure out why temps were stabilizing and I felt terrible. This nose-dive started building gradually about one or two days after I went from 12.5 mg Iodine and feeling good up to 25 mg Iodine and built as I was at that dose for about two weeks or so. I could feel myself sliding into a major deal--I've been here before, used to think it was some kind of hyperthyroid thing, now I think it's an adrenal crash (who knows what I might think in the future), it can last for months once it gets rolling and I have to completely drop my life, organize my environment and tell all friends and relatives that I've " gone under " and will contact them when I'm " back " --I'm in " it " now. When I used to work I had to stop work. So there I was back at 12.5 mg and Steph and Darla said it might be adrenals getting stressed by the detox but so many others seem to say, naw, that doesn't happen. Also, adrenals group moderator and Darla suggested upping hydrocortisone (I'd been on it for several months and was feeling much better) which I've now done (I just added 2.5 to the last dose), I've been on this higher dose for 7 days now: 10, 7.5, 5, 5. Symptoms-wise it has not, thus far, seemed to do anything about stemming this tide, this tsunami of symptoms. My past experience is that I just have to ride this out, for many months, but I was hoping the fact that I was on HC now would make a difference. Not yet--this has been going on for weeks now. Currently my temps are destabilized which happened right before I upped the HC dose and of course upping the HC dose destabilizes them. I'm a wreck and want to know what the heck happened. Things were going so well there and I was getting kind of excited. Did the Iodoral, in my case, tip my adrenals over the top and IS this an adrenal crash? Or perhaps the fact that I've been on 1.5 grains only (thyroidless) of naturethroid for a month and a half is finally catching up with me or both? Or could it be something else? How can I stop this tsunami or shorten the duration and how do I know for sure it's adrenals and not something else? Suggestions? > > > > Hello, > > > > I'm trying to figure out what's going on with my sleep and energy.
