Guest guest
Maybe you could try an alternate to Advair like Asmanex? I can’t take Advair anymore because of my tachycardia and I switched to the Amanex several years ago and I have not noticed any additional pounds because of it. Or maybe it would be more correct to say there don’t seem to be any in addition to the ones I already had! I use one puff a day of the Asmanex and it covers me when my Singulair wears off in the evenings. K. Guest guest
Hi Ingrid, I am behind on the iodine group. If you want to find natural thyroid medicine in Australia, join the NTH group on . One of the moderators is from your country and there is a list of doctors in the Files. There is a lot of information there. That's where I heard about the Iodine group. Guest guest
I was on 50 mg Iodoral and gained too much weight. I went from a size 4 almost to an 8 so I am stopped the Iodoral one week ago. I read past posts on weight gain and understand it is in regard to the detox pathways. I also read to stay on the Iodoral and the weight will go down. Well, I am not depending on that! I decided to do the salt, Vit C, milk thistle, etc for a while, have my weight go down and try again. Any suggestions? Kathy T.
Guest guest
I gained about 7 lbs too, Kathy, my first 2 weeks on 50 mg...However, I found if I was really strict with the vitamins suggested to accompany; my weight and my digestion improved... I am a little off topic here but not really...Because of all the operations for hernias, and bariatric reasons I have had done; my digestion and elimination is terrible to say the least...even before detox...I am now using PGX (recommended by Dr. Oz, who is coming over to our side slowly but surely) and all these things have improved 100%..I feel it is helping the detox symptoms too....Worth a try I believe...Too bad you cannot get samples as it works fairly quickly (in 2 or 3 days)....It is a bit pricey... Guest guest
Hi Jody,One thing that jumped out at me is that you think that iodine might be the miracle supplement for you. There really isn't such a thing in my thinking as a miracle supplement. We each have to find what our body is lacking and provide those things. Then our bodies will work like they are meant to. Having said that, I think iodine can be a key component lacking for a lot of people. On labs, I get all my thyroid blood tests through www.healthcheckusa.com and do not have to have my doctor send an order in. I pay $85 for a Thyroid Panel II (TSH, Free T3, Free T4). Weight loss may be a change that comes as your body comes back into balance. But it takes time for your body to do that and so you may not see an immediate change. What you want to concentrate on is balancing your systems. The necessary weight loss/gain will come in time. Also, remember that carbohydrates are important for you body. Just make sure you are eating the correct type. I noticed you are taking the salt 3x per day. Are you dealing with something that would require the extra salt? in Alaska On Thu, Jan 26, 2012 at 8:02 AM, finishgirl67 <finishgirl67@...> wrote: Hello, This is my first time writing in. Guest guest
Hi Jody. It sounds like you are doing lots of good things. It is frustrating to feel you are doing all you can, and to still struggle with weight not coming off. I know that all people are different, but I know that for me, and also amongst many friends I've talked to about this, dairy products prevent me from losing weight no matter what else I'm doing. And eliminating all dairy products, while maintaining all those other healthy, sane habits (protein at breakfast, balanced meals, keeping junk to a minimum), makes the stubborn weight fall off. I've gone back and forth with dairy about five times, always thinking, " Well if it's organic, raw, 'healthy' dairy, then it is good for me! And I'm only eating a little bit. " and the result is always the same: pounds gained with dairy, and lost when I'm dairy-free. So I think there are some people whose bodies just don't do well with certain types of foods, and I have a number of friends who likewise attest to dairy causing weight gain/retention. It doesn't seem to matter if it's fat-free dairy, or full-fat - it all equates to " fat me " . So if it is not too stressful of a lifestyle change, you might try eliminating all dairy products for a month or two, to see how things go. Guest guest
Hi, Jody, I started iodine in November and have gained at least 10 pounds since. I have researched and researched this and have yet to be able to find anything concrete. I am a personal trainer and work out for nearly three hours a day (and burn at least 1000 calories a day/5x a week). I eat three meals a day, plus two snacks. I eat the majority of my food after my workouts (usually btwn 1 and 2 in the afternoon) with just a light dinner of usually a soup or salad. And I haven't lost any weight that I gained since starting iodine. I am also a huge 180/Matt Stone fan, so I also did the Ray May (Ray Peat eating style) and gained almost 15 pounds in 6 weeks. I was never able to lose that weight. So, I wish I had more of an answer for you, but I am also plagued by the weight gain. I have gained all of weight in my stomach and upper abdominals and breasts. I also have fibrocystic breasts, and I also have hair loss, both of which I've only experienced since the birth of my son, which was almost 7 years ago. You're not alone! Guest guest
Ha! I was a huge Matt Stone fan too until I tried his diet and gained 30 lbs in 30 months (this from someone who was always gaining only slowly - 5 lbs/year), then my weight floated another 10 lbs upward after I stopped. That's a weight gain of 40 lbs in all that I attribute to his diet. Most of my weight gain is midsection as well, and had gone down on thyroid support but went back up again when I started Isocort. I haven't figured out the answer either. -AngieOn Jan 26, 2012, at 8:33 PM, smileawhile74 wrote: Hi, Jody, I started iodine in November and have gained at least 10 pounds since. Guest guest
30 pounds in 3 months..on a 'diet'? What did you eat on the Matt Stone diet? Thanks you for sharing!Theta Hi, Jody, I started iodine in November and have gained at least 10 pounds since. Take care > > > >Â > >Hello, > > > >This is my first time writing in. I have been following the Iodine protocol since December. I have some questions in regards to my weight. I had never had a weight problem until after my 2nd daughter was born (12 years ago), since then I have been struggling. I was taking the ephedra metabolite product to try and jump start my weight loss about 11 years ago, it worked great...but I think that is where I messed my body up/metabolism to function properly. I have been off the ephedra for probably 7 years. I have been doing alot of research and determined based on my previous conditions as well as my mothers issues,(severe menses cycles, endometriosis, fibrosistic breast, estrogen dominance, pms, weight, etc.) I feel Iodine may be the miracle supplement I only recently found in my researching. With that said, I have been trying to implement a high protein breakfast (based on Dr. Kruse), with lowering my carbs to encourage my body to become more > leptin sensitive. I do not have a sugar or carb craving, I do not drink much soda (1 or 2 a month), also based on, (180 degree health), I have been trying to eat, instead of calorie counting and excercise freak, (which I did over the passed year to lose 20 lbs. only to come to a stand still and gain all the weight back, while continuing my crazy "diet & insanity workouts". I am sorry this is getting long,... this is where the Iodine comes in. I started eating as I said trying to limit my carbs, sugars and snacking, 3 descent meals a day, adding in my Iodine (I am up to 5 Iodoral per day), I have been adding my complimentary supplements, and salting 3 x per day at 1/2t. I feel I get bloated still and have not lost a pound, (I fluctuate between 3 lbs. down, then 3 up), I do not have any formal testing for my thyroid, etc. I am looking into a local doctor who is willing to run the "series" of tests for me. Guest guest
Thank you to everyone for your responses. I will cut out my milk, I had recently started, (since Dec) started drinking the Whole Organic Milk and may be the absence of milk will be a help. I typically had only a glass a day. I had also printed and read the Guide to Supplementing With Iodine and do feel I am experiencing the Bromide detox symptoms, (mostly severe headaches and the severe bloating/weight issue), so I had to gradually increase my Iodoral dosages, starting with 1 for a week, then 2, etc. as of this weeek I just started on my 6th tab for the week and the headaches have not started. (yeah). I do take the Mag, Vit D and B's, I recently added an extra B2 and B3 to my protocol. I will continue with what I have been doing and hope that the weight will eventually respond. Is there a chance I should be upping my Selenium to balance out the higher dose of Iodoral? I just ordered the Lugol's as well and thought maybe a combination of the 2 would enhance the results I am looking for. Thanks again for the input. I was also wondering if someone could give me an itemized list of testing to have done the cover my bases with thyroid/metabolism/vitamin/mineral/Iron levels, etc., just to see if I am in line with where I should be. Thanks again for your help. Jody
