Guest guest
Your other symptoms are detox. I don't think the constipation is detox though, but I could be wrong for sure. I too find iodine constipating, but in my case it is far more pronounced with Lugol's vs. Iodoral. In any case, are you getting plenty of fiber and clean water? Both of those are essential. I find it easy to regulate just using magnesium, but you're taking a lot and still being uncomfortable. Maybe you need some stewed prunes every morning? You might want to consider lowering your dose for a while and letting that soak in so your body gets used to it. I feel certain this is temporary for you. btw, you might want to consider adding Vit D3 to your supplements. I feel so much better with it. -- At 07:18 PM 2/16/2011, you wrote: >Hey all! Guest guest
Just some thoughts here ... what type of magnesium are you taking? Had you been supplementing with Mg before beginning the iodine protocol? Some are more bioavailable than others and 2,000 mg/day is a pretty hefty amount. You may have seen in past discussions that topical Mg chloride is actually a preferred route as it bypasses the digestive system. Nutricology also makes a USP liquid Mg chloride that would be immediately available when ingested though I wouldn't recommend this as long term way to supplement - but perhaps a way to help get the bowels moving with a product that is also providing bioavailable Mg. If you started with a Mg deficiency you may be playing catch up and your body is using all that is available very rapidly. Mg deficiency is more common than most people realize. Unlike Vitamin C I don't think that extremely large doses would be advisable. You might do a search on this forum for posts that I made regarding Dr. Norm Shealy and Magnesium. Also the type of Vitamin C ~ have you experimented with different types and also larger quantities during spells of constipation? Though your intake of 6,000 mg/day 'looks " like it should be adequate the need for Vitamin C truly is an individual thing and you may need much more, especially during this time. Was it Linus ing who discussed ascorbic acid in referral to the type of condition = amount needed? I recall the references to the 100 gram cold which is the doses of Vitamin C needed to knock down a severe cold. I didn't save the origin but here is a quote " The astonishing finding was that all patients, tolerant of ascorbic acid, can take greater amounts of the substance orally without having diarrhea when ill or under stress. This increased tolerance is somewhat proportional to the toxicity of the disease being treated. " Then usual bowel tolerance doses are listed for different conditions. In addition there is the new liposomal form of Vitamin C which goes directly to the liver for use by the body and bowel tolerance is not an issue. Generally most everyone who begins Iodoral or Lugol's is going to see significant changes from their norm because if one has been operating in a deficiency then when iodine becomes available to the body, it changes and begins operating in a different manner. Like Vitamin C it appears that the amount of iodine needed is in proportion to the deficiency or illness being addressed. As you know the bowels are one of the detoxification pathways and perhaps whatever your body is changing is temporarily overwhelming this particular pathway. If your condition has not changed at this point and increasing Vitamin C does not help perhaps check out Dr. Loretta Lanphier's website Oasis Advanced Wellness. She earned her expertise in bowel function the hard way ~ by surviving cancer ~ and has quite a bit of articles to peruse on her website. One product she talks about and supplies that may be of interest to you is called Mag 07 which looks to clear the colon but not supply Mg to the body nutritionally. How confident are you that your gall bladder and liver were not sluggish prior to beginning the iodine protocol? I see that you are taking milk thistle which is great of course. I am just prompting you to explore your own thoughts about how well your body might be breaking down bile, etc... as you re-examine your detox pathways. I have seen suggest to some that pulse dosing of Iodoral or Lugol's may benefit them and if one or more of your detox pathways are becoming sluggish pulse dosing may be something to consider. You didn't mention using unrefined salt ... ?? > > >Hey all! Guest guest
Constipation is my first sign that I need to back off because I'm detoxing too much. One of the most important things to do is pulse when starting with iodine. This website talks about pulsing more in detail. www.breastcancerchoises.org. I take Anntronex to get my liver moving again. It really helps with the constipation. In the beginning, I took 3 capsules 3 x's with meals daily. Now, I take 3 capsules when I think about it for maintenance. I eat very little fiber and don't drink water all day. The wrong kind of fiber can just make constipation worse. Eating the right fats help lubricate. Joan > >Hey all! Guest guest
Livon Labs sells Lypo-spheric Vitamin C that can be bought @ iHerb amongst other places. Most folks on this list use Ancient Minerals Magnesium Oil or Swansons. I have purchased Dr. Norm Shealy's Biogenics Magnesium Lotion in the past but now just buy USP Mg Chloride crystals and make my own. Shealy's product is available on Amazon or on Shealy's website www.selfhelpsystems.com or Spring Valley Herbs. I bought mine from Spring Valley. > > > >Hey all!
