Guest guest
How long were you taking 125 mg of Lugols? And did you work up to that dosage? Not Sure What Happened To Me Warning: Very long post. Background: Was taking 125 mg Lugol's topically, mixed with castor oil, in an alternate day pulsing mode, when the following ordeal began. I went off the Lugol's right away, not sure this was a detox, but afraid to add any possible fuel to the fire. I began my topical application again as indicated below.Note: I've not seen any posts on this forum for the last three weeks, so don't know if I missed something that might be pertinent to the material below.Sat, Jan 22 – the day before had been great, and I was finally getting back to full strength after my three week detox in December. But Saturday started with a sudden swelling of lymph glands on the left front of the neck, down to the breastbone. Over the next week, the impacted glands grew enormous and grotesque looking and painful and were accompanied by a fever ranging from 101 to 102 which never broke, not even in the middle of the night or early morning. (As usual, though I was unable to sweat during this time.) Mon 1/30 – After nine days, the swelling spread down to the elbow of my left arm which caused me further pain and alarm and that night I went to an ER. There I accepted the blood tests and ultrasound but refused the cat scan (involving x-rays and an intravenous dye). The test results indicated an extended blood clot which I was told could break off and move to the brain or lungs or heart, causing stroke or death. At 3:00 am I was transferred by ambulance to my HMO hospital about an hour away.At the hospital, after a night without sleep, the atmosphere/set up of the hospital exacerbated my stress (blood pressure up to 174) both physically and emotionally. After speaking with two doctors there, it was clear that they presented me with no choice except to have the cat scan (to determine if the cause was a cancerous tumor) and to immediately begin treatment with the drug warfarin. I was there only 7 hours before I signed a waiver releasing the doctors of responsibility for me and securing a discharge. It was with enormous relief and comfort that I dressed to leave.Back at Home – I started taking Tylenol (1/4 dose) to get through the day and the night. (I hadn't taken any pain killers or fever reducers prior to this.)Research (when I managed to do any) revealed that warfarin is sold as a blood thinner for humans and also as a rat poison. Treatment involves constant monitoring for internal bleeding in the brain and elsewhere as a result of the blood being unable to clot. Warfarin is incapable, however, of dissolving any existing clot. I found I could instead safely take nattokinase (an over the counter supplement), and eat natto (a traditional Japanese food containing mattokinase), to dissolve the existing clot, and any future clots, without impeding the needed ability of the blood to clot, and I began a regimen of both the food and the supplement. In the days that followed, the glands in my neck began to recede, but the fever continued and the pain increased as the swelling descended down into my side, enlarging my left breast, my lower arm and my left hand. I could barely move my left arm which was about double the size of my right, and I had developed a rash of red pustules on my arm and also on my neck and stomach.Initial research indicated that I had lymphedema (usually incurable and considered by the medical community as pretty much untreatable except for palliative measures). Afraid of a wide spread infection I began applying the Lugol's again, topically, in the castor oil mix, but at a lower dosage – 75 mg. I also used coconut oil to prevent the tautly stretched skin from breaking or hardening as I read could happen.Further research turned up the idea of a rebounder (mini trampoline) which, through the mechanism of jumping, forces the valves of the lymph glands to a healthy and active opening and closing of the valves. I also learned it would help dissolve blood clots! I've ordered a rebounder and meanwhile am using a doubled over 2" slab of latex rubber, under my barre, to enable me to "jump" (not much off the slab) while pressing down on the barre. From my first try, this felt surprising good. Hopefully it is helping clear the impacted glands and dissolving my clot. It is certainly increasing much needed deep breathing and blood circulation. As time went by (three weeks now) my sleep was increasingly disturbed by severe leg pains at night. For years, I would have these pains maybe 3-4 times a year. Now I was getting them every night and having to get out of bed to walk for 20 minutes or so to make the pain go away. It turns out I have a variation of Restless Leg Syndrome (pain instead of itchy, crawly feelings) and the increase was simply due to all the stress I've been under. Some of my stress was due to fear and confusion. Some was the due to the dispiriting and difficult interactions with five different doctors who, while they did give me some valuable information and seemed genuinely concerned about me, also made everything more difficult by becoming angry and offended when I turned down their recommendations. Although they were careful not to come out and say they thought this was cancer, it seemed clear they wanted the cat scan to confirm that diagnosis so they could proceed to whatever radiation/chemotherapy they thought necessary. It was hard for me to defend myself and explain why a confirmation of cancer would not change anything in my lifestyle – which for the last eight or so years has been designed to combat cancer.I believe I'm going to be okay, and I now see small, daily signs of that -- but it is clearly going to happen slowly. If, instead, things get worse, I'm really not sure what my next step would be. I would have to be in very bad state to return to the ER and accept what it is they have to offer me.I have been looking for an alternative doctor nearby (in Oceanside, CA). I'm not sure though, if this would really work for me. They each seem to have their own viewpoints (often vegan-based) and protocols -- and would any of them have known about or thought of nattokinase? Or a rebounder? Would they even be willing to work with me if a have a clot which could become lethal? I am beginning to think I need my HMO (Kaiser) for tests (those I feel they are safe), diagnoses (they were able to tell me I had a blood clot, one suggested I might have Restless Leg Syndrome, in spite of the unusual symptoms). Armed with that kind of info, and the internet, I may be safer, as well more comfortable, than working with any kind of alternative doctor. But I am open to any suggestions on this.I'm also wondering if anyone can make sense of all this in terms of whether or not it was a detox – or in any way a result of the iodine protocol. Guest guest
Somehow in western medicine, the lymphatic system gets consistently overlooked. The lymphatic system is as large & complex as the venous system, & has important detox functions, & yet somehow, we never give it as much attention... (Every time we talk about opening detox pathways, for example, we should talk about rebounding. Because the lymph system is one of the detox pathways, & rebounding seems to be one of the best things you can do to keep it flowing properly.)So far, you have done everything I was going to recommend as I read along. So in terms of advice for further approaches, you need somebody smarter than I am. Have you tried magnesium oil on the restless legs? In addition to the nattokinase, you might try the enzyme serropeptase (sp?) And maybe some detoxing baths would help. When the rebounder comes, I suggest putting it somewhere where you will pass it frequently, & starting with a really SHORT session every time you go by, slowly building your way up. (This reminds me that our rebounder got stuffed in the basement right before Christmas, & I need to bring it back into the light!) Not only do you want to strengthen the muscles gradually, but you don't want the lymph system to be dumping huge amounts of toxins all at once. You don't even have to jump really high -- just standing on it & bouncing very slightly, without your feet even leaving the surface, will get the process started. (Very sick people can sit on the rebounder & have somebody else jump on it for them.)When you refer to a 3-week detox, I don't know if you are talking about iodine alone, or some other protocol in combination. Some people do report detox issues when they combine 2 detox protocols. When you are really sick & toxic, & you get things moving, sometimes you get a bit more moving than you bargained for...But they talk a lot in alternative health circles about the Herxheimer effect. Sometimes getting well involves getting sicker for a while, first. If there are any kind of infectious pathogens in the body, & you start killing them off, they release toxins. The body can maintain itself in a weird state of static ill health, with toxins locked up all over the body. You're sick, & you know you're sick, but somehow your body is protecting you from the worst of it. It's a bit like house-cleaning, when the house has gotten REALLY dirty. When you go to clean up, the air fills with dust, the moldy containers at the back of the fridge stink when you wrench the lids off, & the place generally feels dirtier for a while, because the grunge isn't lurking quietly any more.Given that the Herxheimer thing makes you feel worse, & getting a new disease of some sort makes you feel worse, it is really hard to know if you are feeling sick in a good way or a bad way. It is possible that since you have been so actively working on detox, you have just stirred up a bit more than you can comfortably handle. But it is kind of scary, when you are doing everything you can to support your health & you feel worse.I don't even know what to tell you about the doctor piece. They take it so personally when you don't fall into line with their instructions. Only you can figure out how much their diagnositic know-how is worth, or whether a particular doc is reasonable enough to work with. Personally, as long as you don't feel that you are in imminent danger & are not frightened, I would try to take a while to work though whatever this is. Experiment gently with your rebounder; do as much passive detox as you can; take it kind of easy. I think sometimes we forget the importance of resting during detox. I wouldn't do any aggressive detox for a while, because you don't need to stir up a lot more new stuff to deal with. Give things a chance to settle. (If you start to feel really scared or much sicker, then it is time to reevaluate.)Good luck. And keep us posted.AnneOn Feb 15, 2011, at 12:24 PM, clairecwest wrote: Warning: Very long post. Guest guest
,Sorry for what you have been through.I have been taken Warfarin, Heparin and Lovenox (the last two are injectables). I cannot advise towards Lugol's role, but I would like to ask you to think twice regarding the before mentioned medicine. I DO NOT think nattokinase (or serrapeptase) are enough when it comes to a blood clot - YOU ARE PUTTING YOUR HEALTH AT RISK!!! They should have started you on an injectable ASAP, as Warfarin talkes a few days for full effect. It is (???)/was indeed used as rat poison, but it has been around for ages and it is safe to use. Yes, you need to check your blood periodically (monthly) - so what? It is not pleasant, but it is not horrific either. And most probable it will save your life. After a few months on it and the clot dissolved, you can then switch to the enzymes. Please, do not play with this. I am all for natural remedies, do not take any prescription medication, but still weight on the blood thinners vs enzymes. I completely lost my hearing in my right ear within two hours (poc, poc and then silence; end of strory). A tiny mini-mini stroke was the probable cause. Actually, a tiny clot in the tiny blood vessels that go to the ear. IT WAS NOT an embolism... but I'll live with it for the rest of my life. Embolisms are not to be treated lightly... if it was a blood clot, you are lucky to be alive after all the time, but I would not wait and see what is happening. And yes, Warfarin & LMWH (Low Molecular Weigh Heparin, meaning all the injectables used for blood thinning) WILL dissolve your clot.If I can also suggest, at least take 1 baby aspirin (81 mg.). Just my 2 cents.Best of health to you!(the other) Stephiodine From: clairewest@...Date: Tue, 15 Feb 2011 20:24:13 +0000Subject: Not Sure What Happened To Me Warning: Very long post. Guest guest
Anne, Thank you so much for the very helpful suggestions, esp. with regard to the use of the rebounder. I have tried magnesium oil on my legs (thinking at the time I might have blood clots there as well and the oil might help open the veins) but without any noticeable difference. I will research the serropeptase. Re: resting during this time . . . I really have no choice, after I've been moving about for an hour or two, my back begins to ache -- I think in connection with the low grade fever which, although no longer constant, is still a real factor. So I am lying down quite a bit. On 2/15/2011 2:45 PM, Anne Seals wrote: Somehow in western medicine, the lymphatic system gets consistently overlooked. The lymphatic system is as large & complex as the venous system, & has important detox functions, & yet somehow, we never give it as much attention... (Every time we talk about opening detox pathways, for example, we should talk about rebounding. Because the lymph system is one of the detox pathways, & rebounding seems to be one of the best things you can do to keep it flowing properly.) So far, you have done everything I was going to recommend as I read along. (Very sick people can sit on the rebounder & have somebody else jump on it for them.) When you refer to a 3-week detox, I don't know if you are talking about iodine alone, or some other protocol in combination. Some people do report detox issues when they combine 2 detox protocols. When you are really sick & toxic, & you get things moving, sometimes you get a bit more moving than you bargained for... But they talk a lot in alternative health circles about the Herxheimer effect. When you go to clean up, the air fills with dust, the moldy containers at the back of the fridge stink when you wrench the lids off, & the place generally feels dirtier for a while, because the grunge isn't lurking quietly any more. Given that the Herxheimer thing makes you feel worse, & getting a new disease of some sort makes you feel worse, it is really hard to know if you are feeling sick in a good way or a bad way. It is possible that since you have been so actively working on detox, you have just stirred up a bit more than you can comfortably handle. But it is kind of scary, when you are doing everything you can to support your health & you feel worse. I don't even know what to tell you about the doctor piece. (If you start to feel really scared or much sicker, then it is time to reevaluate.) Good luck. And keep us posted. Anne On Feb 15, 2011, at 12:24 PM, clairecwest wrote: Warning: Very long post. Note: I've not seen any posts on this forum for the last three weeks, so don't know if I missed something that might be pertinent to the material below. Sat, Jan 22 – the day before had been great, and I was finally getting back to full strength after my three week detox in December. At 3:00 am I was transferred by ambulance to my HMO hospital about an hour away. At the hospital, after a night without sleep, the atmosphere/set up of the hospital exacerbated my stress (blood pressure up to 174) both physically and emotionally. It was with enormous relief and comfort that I dressed to leave. Back at Home – I started taking Tylenol (1/4 dose) to get through the day and the night. (I hadn't taken any pain killers or fever reducers prior to this.) Research (when I managed to do any) revealed that warfarin is sold as a blood thinner for humans and also as a rat poison. I could barely move my left arm which was about double the size of my right, and I had developed a rash of red pustules on my arm and also on my neck and stomach. Initial research indicated that I had lymphedema (usually incurable and considered by the medical community as pretty much untreatable except for palliative measures). Afraid of a wide spread infection I began applying the Lugol's again, topically, in the castor oil mix, but at a lower dosage – 75 mg. I also used coconut oil to prevent the tautly stretched skin from breaking or hardening as I read could happen. Further research turned up the idea of a rebounder (mini trampoline) which, through the mechanism of jumping, forces the valves of the lymph glands to a healthy and active opening and closing of the valves. It was hard for me to defend myself and explain why a confirmation of cancer would not change anything in my lifestyle – which for the last eight or so years has been designed to combat cancer. I believe I'm going to be okay, and I now see small, daily signs of that -- but it is clearly going to happen slowly. If, instead, things get worse, I'm really not sure what my next step would be. I would have to be in very bad state to return to the ER and accept what it is they have to offer me. I have been looking for an alternative doctor nearby (in Oceanside, CA). But I am open to any suggestions on this. I'm also wondering if anyone can make sense of all this in terms of whether or not it was a detox – or in any way a result of the iodine protocol. Guest guest
Gwen, It was a fairly gradual shift upwards (I started about 7 months ago with 25 mg.) And when I went to 125 mg, I also went to alternate days. Still, it might have been too much, too soon. I was thinking that topically, the Lugol's would not have as much impact as orally. One other thing, though, about a week previous to all this I tried the salve on my scalp and that might have "moved" more things than I bargained for. How long were you taking 125 mg of Lugols? And did you work up to that dosage? Not Sure What Happened To Me Warning: Very long post. Guest guest
Steph B, Warfarin is still sold as a rat poison, and I feel deeply, after doing a lot of research, that the risks are greater and the benefits not as great as using nattokinase. Two of the doctors said quite clearly that Warfarin would not break up my existing clot, only -- in about six weeks time -- thin the blood enough to prevent future clotting and that my body on its own would eventually dissolve the existing clot. My research confirmed this. I do understand the risks involved with a blood clot. Believe me, five doctors pressed the point upon me unrelentingly and in the harshest terms. We all have to decide for ourselves what risks seem reasonable or not. Sorry for what you have been through. I have been taken Warfarin, Heparin and Lovenox (the last two are injectables). And yes, Warfarin & LMWH (Low Molecular Weigh Heparin, meaning all the injectables used for blood thinning) WILL dissolve your clot. If I can also suggest, at least take 1 baby aspirin (81 mg.). Just my 2 cents. Best of health to you! (the other) Steph iodine From: clairewest@... Date: Tue, 15 Feb 2011 20:24:13 +0000 Subject: Not Sure What Happened To Me Warning: Very long post. Guest guest
Gwen, I wasn't long on the 125 mg. Maybe a month or so. Thanks for the tip about the shoes. So how long were you on the 125 mg. dosage? And just an fyi, make sure you wear shoes on the rebounder. I didn't and ended up with plantar facisitis. I put too much pressure on my arches. I began my topical application again as indicated below. Note: I've not seen any posts on this forum for the last three weeks, so don't know if I missed something that might be pertinent to the material below. Sat, Jan 22 – the day before had been great, and I was finally getting back to full strength after my three week detox in December. At 3:00 am I was transferred by ambulance to my HMO hospital about an hour away. At the hospital, after a night without sleep, the atmosphere/set up of the hospital exacerbated my stress (blood pressure up to 174) both physically and emotionally. I'm not sure though, if this would really work for me. They each seem to have their own viewpoints (often vegan-based) and protocols -- and would any of them have known about or thought of nattokinase? Or a rebounder? Guest guest
It is something of a tight-rope. I know of people who had strokes on Warfarin. This blood is as dangerous as thick blood. Like Goldilocks, we need for some things to be JUST RIGHT.AnneOn Feb 15, 2011, at 3:12 PM, clairewest wrote: Steph B, Warfarin is still sold as a rat poison, and I feel deeply, after doing a lot of research, that the risks are greater and the benefits not as great as using nattokinase. Guest guest
,I had 6 bloodclots in a year's time. Had surgery on leg to get rid of vein that fed the bloodclot spot on calf. Was on daily full aspirin which only has 15% chance of working -worse for women and useless for me. Anyway nattokinase took away my last bloodclot in about 4 hours. I have been on nattokinase from vitacost every 12 hours since then. Natto cleared brain fog and also got rid of 30 years of vericose veins in my legs. Natto is also good for digestion and clears a film called biofilm that can block absorption of minerals and vitamins from your food. It doesn't change blood thickness however as my blood is still thick sludge. Natto can come with K2 which helps to add calcium to your bones. My mother is on warfarin for over a decade. She needs blood tests and adjustments to dose 2-3 times a month. Also impacted her gums, her mobility and her freedom to get around. She is quite bent over now and it frustrates me that can not change things without getting her regular doctors to agree which is uphill battle. Dry brushing may also help your glands. Instructions are on internet. My doctor also uses some plastic cups to move this around effectively as I have had some enlarged glands off and on. Possibly you could get a set to use. I could email you her email and you could ask her where she gets those or you could go see her if you were in Oregon or nearby. I wonder if FIR sauna or heat pad would also help. I would not use a typical heat pad but possibly the FIR would actually help. Guest guest
Corry, I've never had a lymph gland problem before -- at least not to my knowledge. Nor any problems with blood clotting -- but I am an A blood type and which supposedly means a tendency to clot and I can see on my blood panel test results that I began in 2005 to produce excessive blood platelets. I thought that the platelets were a sign of clotting, but the last doctor said no -- so I don't know what lab results indicate blood clotting problems. Guest guest
Corry, One other thought:  most of the doctors seemed to think the tumor, possibly cancerous, was pressing against the vein and causing a narrow passageway and thus the clot -- which they described as "very long" going down into my arm. However, one doctor said it was possible that the overwhelmed and swollen lymph glands might be what pressed against the vein and caused the clot. I rather favor this last idea since I had the lymph problem first, before the swelling went down into my arm. On 2/15/2011 6:03 PM, clairewest wrote:  Corry, I've never had a lymph gland problem before -- at least not to my knowledge. Guest guest
Steph B, Thanks for the reference. In truth, though, I see no point in spending money on a diagnostic for cancer -- even one free of xrays. Neither a positive or a negative result would change the path to health I chose eight years ago, when my sister died of colon cancer -- my brother having died from colon cancer years before that. I have been doing all I know how to do. If it turns out to be not enough, I will have to accept that. I have seen clearly from my siblings' experiences, and my research, that medical science holds no answer for me when it comes to cancer. Guest guest
Navarro is the leading trusted alternative test to detect cancer. None of the Western doctors would ever prescribe or trust it. The cost is 50$ and involves a sample of your urine.Be well!iodine From: clairewest@...Date: Wed, 16 Feb 2011 02:19:39 -0800Subject: Re: Not Sure What Happened To Me Steph B, Thanks for the reference. Guest guest
I know of a few people who disolved blood clots. they used Both the nattokinase and the serropeptase together. > > Warning: Very long post. > > Background: Was taking 125 mg Lugol's topically, mixed with castor oil, in an alternate day pulsing mode, when the following ordeal began. I went off the Lugol's right away, not sure this was a detox, but afraid to add any possible fuel to the fire. (As usual, though I was unable to sweat during this time.) > > Mon 1/30 – After nine days, the swelling spread down to the elbow of my left arm which caused me further pain and alarm and that night I went to an ER. There I accepted the blood tests and ultrasound but refused the cat scan (involving x-rays and an intravenous dye). The test results indicated an extended blood clot which I was told could break off and move to the brain or lungs or heart, causing stroke or death. At 3:00 am I was transferred by ambulance to my HMO hospital about an hour away. > > At the hospital, after a night without sleep, the atmosphere/set up of the hospital exacerbated my stress (blood pressure up to 174) both physically and emotionally. I also learned it would help dissolve blood clots! I've ordered a rebounder and meanwhile am using a doubled over 2 " slab of latex rubber, under my barre, to enable me to " jump " (not much off the slab) while pressing down on the barre. Guest guest
You may already know about this, but if not Google " Pulmonary Fibrosis Nattokinase serrapeptase.Everyone should know about this. Its another one like HYPO, etc. That is, the Dr.'s don't have tests to detect it, and so it slowly gets worse for 20-30 years. Many diverse symptoms or conditions all resulting from the same underlieing cause;Cattaract, kidney problems, artheritis, difficulty breathing, etc.All caused by excessive fibrin.By the time they can detect it, its too late.Happened to my Dad.Its what he died from.I have it too, but am taking natto, to keep it in check.
